Job Description

Construction Project Manager

The Project Manager leads and delivers key client projects, ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with project scope. This role oversees daytoday project operations, scheduling, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. Responsibilities include developing and managing project schedules, assigning and directing field personnel, coordinating subcontractors, resolving project issues, and monitoring labor, costs, and progress against contract requirements and organizational goals. The Project Manager also ensures full compliance with safety procedures and OSHA regulations, and prepares regular project status reports with recommendations for safety and operational improvements.
Project Management Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute construction projects from initiation through completion.

  • Meet with clients to gather detailed requirements and ensure clarity on project objectives.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and timelines for internal teams and clients.

  • Establish project-specific safety procedures and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations.

  • Define project scope, tasks, resource needs, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and adjust schedules as needed to maintain alignment with scope and budget.

  • Coordinate internal teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and thirdparty vendors to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Manage changes to scope, schedule, and costs using proper verification and approval processes.

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards.

  • Measure project performance using established tools and metrics; report findings to management.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, reports, and records.

  • Track short and longterm project goals and evaluate overall project success.

  • Continuously develop leadership skills and participate in training as required.

  • Obtain lastminute materials or supplies necessary to keep projects on schedule.

  • Lead and direct personnel and subcontractors, ensuring proper interpretation of specifications and coordination of construction phases.

  • Collaborate with supervisory staff, engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction challenges and improve methods.

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Supervision & Leadership
  • Delegate tasks based on team members’ strengths, skill sets, and experience levels.

  • Provide direction, support, and oversight to project teams.

  • Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and adherence to schedules.

  • Assemble project teams—including supervisory, clerical, engineering, and field staff—at project start.

  • Address workforce concerns, resolve grievances, and maintain positive labor relations.

  • Conduct risk management activities to minimize project risks.

  • Interview personnel, supervise performance, enforce safety standards, and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.

Governmental Compliance & Inspections
  • Lead safety and quality assurance efforts across all job sites.

  • Secure required permits from relevant governmental agencies.

  • Communicate building standards and project requirements to inspectors.

  • Oversee compliance with MIOSHA standards for all staff and subcontractors on site.

  • Ensure availability and proper use of safety equipment.

  • Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws, including equal employment opportunity regulations.

Expense & Cost Control
  • Assist with estimating, bid preparation, and proposal development.

  • Create spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document project needs and workflows.

  • Prepare or review progress reports, material usage, and cost data; adjust schedules based on findings.

  • Evaluate project outcomes and performance metrics.

  • Manage project budgets and meet financial objectives.

  • Adjust project constraints as needed based on financial analysis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversees and directs construction personnel on job sites, ensuring all supervisory activities align with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and selecting employees, planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, administering rewards and disciplinary actions, and resolving employee concerns or workplace issues.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Familiarity with design or drafting software, including CADbased programs, is preferred.

Education & Experience
  • Associate degree from a twoyear college or technical school, or

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience and/or training in construction or a related field, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical documents, and governmental regulations. Must be able to write clear reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation. Capable of presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, employees, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical analysis, geometry, and trigonometry. Must be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical construction and projectrelated situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization. Must be able to interpret instructions presented in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A valid, unrestricted stateissued driver’s license is required. Must meet all Employment Eligibility Verification requirements.
