About the Role:

The FSW/Driver position in the retail trade industry is a critical role responsible for ensuring the timely and safe delivery of goods to various retail locations across the United States. This role combines the duties of a skilled driver with those of a frontline service worker, requiring a balance of operational efficiency and customer service excellence. The successful candidate will manage the transportation of merchandise while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, this role involves coordinating with warehouse teams and retail staff to facilitate smooth inventory flow and resolve any delivery issues promptly. Ultimately, the FSW/Driver contributes directly to customer satisfaction and the overall success of the retail supply chain by ensuring products are delivered accurately and on schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle class operated.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy merchandise safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to complete delivery documentation accurately.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail delivery or logistics roles.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning software.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or delivery environment.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Certification in defensive driving or transportation safety training.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver retail products to designated locations within scheduled timeframes.
  • Load and unload merchandise, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure operational safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, retail staff, and management to coordinate deliveries and address any logistical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, including logs, receipts, and reports, to support inventory tracking and billing processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally during deliveries and addressing customer inquiries or concerns.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving laws and company policies to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Skills:

The required skills for this role include proficient driving abilities, ensuring safe and timely deliveries while navigating various routes and traffic conditions. Strong organizational skills are essential for managing delivery schedules, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating with multiple teams.
