Senior Full Stack Engineer, Client Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer, Client Platform based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to build and scale the technology foundations behind modern digital entertainment experiences.
You will join a client platform team focused on improving developer productivity, application performance, accessibility, and reliability across customer-facing products.
The position combines front-end engineering, backend development, and platform innovation, with a strong focus on GraphQL, TypeScript, and scalable architectures.
You will collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver seamless experiences across web and mobile platforms.
As a senior contributor, you will influence technical direction, improve engineering practices, and mentor teammates through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, Client Platform, you will design, develop, and optimize shared technologies that enable product teams to deliver exceptional digital experiences. You will contribute to platform architecture, improve engineering workflows, and help maintain reliable, scalable systems across web and mobile ecosystems.

  • Design and evolve GraphQL schemas within a federated graph architecture, including server-driven UI contracts supporting multiple client applications.
  • Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, backend services, RPC endpoints, and SQL queries supporting customer-facing applications.
  • Build responsive, accessible front-end applications and shared libraries using React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Partner with product and design teams to architect and deliver new customer-facing features.
  • Improve developer productivity by enhancing shared components, tooling, build processes, and release workflows.
  • Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability practices to improve system reliability and user experience.
  • Investigate production issues, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges while driving long-term improvements.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions, architecture decisions, documentation, and engineering standards.
  • Mentor teammates through code reviews, pairing sessions, and knowledge sharing.
  • Strengthen automated testing practices, CI/CD workflows, and overall code quality.
  • Participate in agile delivery processes, feature development, and production ownership, including on-call responsibilities.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced full stack engineer with strong technical foundations, a passion for scalable software development, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, with a strong understanding of user experience principles.
  • 2+ years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for products used across multiple platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, browser environments, DOM, events, and platform APIs.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and software architecture.
  • Experience developing production systems at scale, including performance optimization, tracing, and load testing.
  • Experience supporting production services, managing releases, and participating in on-call rotations.
  • Experience building backend APIs using Node.js, Bun, or comparable frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized environments, Git workflows, and modern development tooling.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Vitest, ExUnit, RSpec, or pytest.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation, specifications, and cross-team design proposals.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify risks, reduce technical debt, and improve engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-have experience includes:

  • Apollo Federation at scale or advanced GraphQL implementations.
  • Mobile development experience using Swift or Kotlin.
  • Domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, or relational database expertise.
  • Background job processing and asynchronous event systems.
  • Experience with multi-client, white-label platforms, or geo-based configurations.
  • Open-source contributions, startup experience, or interest in sports and digital entertainment products.
