Equity Research Associate

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Equity Research Associate based in Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical finance professional to contribute to a sophisticated global financial research and intelligence platform.
You will help maintain and enhance detailed three-statement financial models covering publicly traded companies.
The role combines equity research, financial modeling, sector analysis, and technology in a highly collaborative environment.
You will contribute directly to the quality and evolution of a financial model library used by leading organizations worldwide.
The position offers meaningful exposure to company earnings, financial analysis, research methodologies, and client-driven product improvements.
You will work alongside experienced research professionals while developing sector expertise and influencing modeling standards and processes.
Based remotely in Vancouver and aligned to the PST timezone, this role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, ownership, and continuous learning.

Accountabilities:
  • Update and maintain three-statement financial models for publicly traded companies following earnings releases and other significant corporate events.
  • Build detailed financial models and participate in rigorous reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high-quality outputs.
  • Contribute to sector- and coverage-specific model enhancements, including comparative analysis dashboards and new modeling capabilities.
  • Develop strong sector expertise and apply it to improve financial modeling standards, research methodologies, and product functionality.
  • Conduct company research, financial analysis, and ad-hoc due diligence to support broader research objectives.
  • Document modeling standards, methodologies, and best practices to promote consistency across the research organization.
  • Partner with Analysts to deliver responsive, high-quality support to clients and help address their research and financial modeling needs.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to product and process improvements based on research and client requirements.
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and mentoring activities for new members of the research team.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work within demanding reporting and earnings-cycle deadlines.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of professional experience in equity research, financial modeling, accounting, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently build, maintain, and improve detailed three-statement financial models.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation concepts, accounting principles, and relevant sector dynamics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial datasets and models.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to develop meaningful sector expertise and translate financial information into actionable insights.
  • Progress toward a CFA, CPA, or MBA is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to consistently meet tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and client-service skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential or previous experience training, mentoring, or supporting colleagues.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to contribute to team strategy, process improvements, and evolving research standards.
  • Ability and willingness to work within the PST timezone and support occasional extended morning or afternoon hours when required.
