Contractor / Freelancer - Mechanical Engineer (60-100% employment, fixed-term until the end of February 2027)

Tasks- Design and maintain the 3D-models and drawings of assemblies and parts in CAD (Solidworks) like products, process tools and equipment
- First-level support and administration of Optotune’s PDM system
- Work with the team to procure, assemble, and verify prototype design concepts
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve overall product performance and reliability
- Collaborate with product, process, and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for cost-effective production and assembly
- Own design lifecycle, including the creation of procurement and quality (IQC) documentation, working together with Optotune’s Quality Team, Supply Chain Management, and our suppliers
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the optics or high-precision industries
- Proven experience with CAD, SolidWorks preferred, FEA tools an added plus
- Experience, or minimally strong interest, in PDM systems, SolidWorks preferred
- Experience with FMEA and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles
- Strong fundamentals in GPS tolerancing (ISO 1101, for example)
- Knowledge of configuration management of parts and assemblies
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to execute multiple projects and priorities in parallel
- Knowledge of materials science and thermal management is a plus
- Business fluent in both Slovak and English
- Work in a stable foreign company
