The Role:
Unlike traditional audit roles, NKSFB's Compliance Audit team works directly with the agreements that govern how entertainment professionals are paid. By analyzing contracts and financial records, auditors help verify that participants in film, television, music, and other entertainment projects receive compensation consistent with the terms of their agreements.
We are seeking 2027 summer audit interns to join our Compliance Audit practice and learn about this critical accounting function in the ever-changing entertainment business landscape. Our summer interns have the opportunity to kickstart their careers, and learn about the entertainment industry from a unique perspective in a team-oriented, fast-paced work environment.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Duration: June 2027 – August 2027 (must be able to participate in a minimum of 8+ weeks of the internship program)
What You Will Do:
Our Summer Audit Internship Program includes touchpoints with several of our lead partners across the Firm’s various service lines, sharing their wisdom about starting a career in Compliance Audit, serving the entertainment industry and beyond. We also offer career planning, resume building workshops, business etiquette and professional development presentations, team projects, and philanthropic initiatives.
The program is engineered to show you what it’s like to work at NKSFB as a first-year Staff Auditor. Here are some of the many things you will do as a 2027 Summer Audit Intern:
- Learn how Compliance Auditors support unions, guilds, studios, and other entertainment industry participants.
- Analyze financial records, contracts, and supporting documentation to identify and investigate discrepancies.
- Develop data analysis, research, and problem-solving skills through real-world compliance audit projects.
- Collaborate with experienced compliance auditors while gaining exposure to entertainment accounting, business practices, and industry agreements.
- Participate in professional development, networking, and career-planning opportunities throughout the summer.
What You Need To Succeed:
- Self-motivated with excellent organization skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work well with a team and pitch in when needed.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Educational Preferences:
- Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related business discipline.
- On track to meet CPA licensing educational requirements upon graduation is a plus, but not required.
- Completion of introductory Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting coursework.
- Completion of Intermediate Accounting coursework is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, crouching, and regular lifting up to 15 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly talking, hearing, seeing, and sitting.
- Moderate to loud noise level.
- Risk of electrical shock.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this role is $24/hr. - $26/hr. and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and location.
