- The position begins as part-time (20–25 hours/week) with a clear pathway to full-time within 12 months, based on performance and organizational growth.
WHO YOU ARE
- A relationship-driven leader who believes strong community partnerships are the foundation of successful programs and events.
- A strategic thinker who can design and scale engagement systems—not just manage day-to-day activities.
- A skilled organizer who can manage people, schedules, and logistics across multiple sites and initiatives.
- A proactive problem-solver who anticipates gaps and ensures programs and events run smoothly and consistently.
- A culturally grounded communicator who values diversity, trust-building, and equity in community engagement.
- A collaborative team player who enjoys working across programs, operations, and development to support shared goals.
- A people-centered manager who can mentor and supervise staff while motivating and retaining volunteers.
- Comfortable engaging both grassroots community members and corporate partners, with the ability to build trust across diverse audiences.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- As the Community and Volunteer Engagement Manager, you will lead and strengthen AfriThrive’s volunteer and community engagement systems to ensure reliable program delivery, successful community events, and strong, sustained partnerships.
- You will build and oversee a structured volunteer program, supporting AfriThrive’s food access, cultural farm, youth, school-based, and community initiatives. This includes guiding recruitment, training, and engagement of individual volunteers, corporate groups, and community partners.
- You will supervise and support the Volunteer Coordinator, ensuring effective day-to-day operations while improving systems, processes, and volunteer experience.
- You will collaborate with Program Operations and Development teams to align engagement with operational needs, grant requirements, and fundraising priorities, including supporting corporate volunteer engagement as part of broader partnership development efforts.
- You will also support AfriThrive’s community events by ensuring strong volunteer coordination, partner engagement, and a welcoming, well-executed experience.

- Track and report engagement data (Salesforce) to support impact measurement and grant reporting
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align engagement with program delivery and fundraising goals
- 3–5+ years of experience in volunteer management, community engagement, nonprofit programs, or a related field
- Experience supervising staff, coordinating teams, or leading volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with community organizations, volunteers, and diverse stakeholders
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across programs and events
