As we continue to grow our business in the Southern Tier, we're adding a Customer Service Sales Specialist to support customers throughout our Binghamton and Horseheads territories.

Position Overview
The Customer Service Sales Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships while growing Thompson & Johnson's Parts, Service, and Rental business.
This is a customer facing sales position where you'll spend time in the field meeting with existing and prospective customers, learning about their operations, identifying opportunities, and connecting them with the right Thompson & Johnson solutions.
Working closely with our Parts, Service, Rental, and Sales departments, you'll serve as an important connection between our customers and T&J while developing new business and strengthening existing customer relationships.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Regularly visit customers throughout the Binghamton and Horseheads territories.
- Learn about customer operations, equipment, and business needs.
- Identify opportunities to grow Parts, Service, and Rental business.
- Prospect for and develop new customer accounts.
- Schedule and conduct face to face meetings with existing and prospective customers.
- Recommend solutions based on customer needs and prepare sales proposals.
- Follow up consistently on customer requests, proposals, and sales opportunities.
- Work closely with our Parts, Service, Rental, and Sales departments to resolve customer needs and provide a positive customer experience.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales activity in our CRM system.
- Participate in sales planning and forecasting.
- Continue developing your product and industry knowledge through ongoing training.
What You'll Bring

- Confidence meeting with customers and developing new relationships.
- A willingness to prospect for new business and ask for the customer's business.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to identify customer needs and recommend solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization, time management, and follow through.
- Initiative and the ability to independently manage a sales territory.
- The ability to work collaboratively with employees across multiple departments.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years of sales, customer service, account management, business development, or similar experience.
- A valid driver's license with a driving record free of major infractions.
- An Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Material handling or industrial equipment experience is a plus.
Compensation & Training
We understand that learning our business, products, customers, and sales process takes time. That's why this position provides $78,000 annualized training pay for up to one year.
During the training period, the employee may elect at any time to transition to the regular compensation structure of:
$60,000 base salary plus commission
This provides time to learn the business and develop the territory while also giving you the opportunity to transition to the commission structure sooner when you're ready.
