Job Summary
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Essential Functions
The Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Technician to join Dr. Claire Cheetham's laboratory. We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who can support our research into how neurogenesis in the mouse olfactory system contributes to development, plasticity and regeneration. Skills in mouse husbandry, genotyping, transcardial perfusion and/or immunohistochemistry would be an advantage. Training will be provided for all aspects of the role, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to original research projects in addition to supporting other lab members.
Job Summary:
Will assist in supporting research in the Cheetham lab in the Department of Neurobiology and will receive training in advanced neuroscience techniques used to study neural circuit development, plasticity and regeneration.
Job Duties:
- Maintain mouse colony, including mouse handling, husbandry and genotyping
- Ensure smooth running of the lab, including ordering supplies and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance
- Contribute to research projects ongoing in the lab
Physical Effort
Must be able to lift 15lbs.
