Claims Litigation Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Claims Litigation Specialist based in United States.

This role is an opportunity to manage complex, high-exposure claims within a specialized insurance environment.
You will provide technical expertise on challenging claims while guiding adjusters, managers, agents, and examiners.
The position combines coverage analysis, litigation management, negotiation, investigation, and strategic decision-making.
You will work closely with defense counsel to develop effective strategies and drive claims toward appropriate resolution.
The role also offers opportunities to leverage modern claims technology and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
You will play an important part in developing team capabilities while maintaining strong customer service and quality standards.
This position offers remote and hybrid flexibility depending on location, with occasional travel for collaboration and company events.

Accountabilities
  • Manage complex and high-exposure claims within a specialized line of business, applying sound judgment and technical expertise throughout the claims lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to adjusters, managers, agents, and examiners on complex claims matters and challenging situations.
  • Evaluate coverage issues and prepare well-supported coverage opinions based on policy language, facts, and applicable considerations.
  • Direct and collaborate closely with defense counsel on litigated claims, supporting effective litigation strategies and appropriate claim resolution.
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims using modern claims technology and established best practices.
  • Analyze claim information, identify key issues and risks, and make informed recommendations regarding appropriate courses of action.
  • Deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders while maintaining compliance with established quality, audit, and regulatory standards.
  • Support special projects, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts designed to enhance claims processes and outcomes.
  • Assist with the development, coaching, and training of claims team members by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Build strong professional relationships across claims, management, agency, legal, and other business functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex, high-severity claims, preferably involving significant exposure and litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of litigated claim management, including coverage evaluation, defense counsel coordination, negotiation, and resolution strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the judgment to make sound decisions in complex or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex claims issues clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Proven relationship-building and collaboration skills when working with adjusters, managers, agents, examiners, legal professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and influence claim outcomes while maintaining appropriate compliance and quality standards.
  • Comfortable using modern claims technology, claims management systems, and other digital tools to investigate and manage claims efficiently.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Associate in Claims (AIC) designation required.
  • CPCU designation or other relevant insurance industry education and certifications preferred.
  • Candidates must currently reside in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Arizona, Missouri, or Ohio.
  • Candidates located within 50 miles of an office location may be expected to follow a hybrid work schedule; fully remote employees may occasionally travel for meetings, training, or corporate events.
