Job Description
The ERP Systems Specialist (non-Infrastructure) supports M&R’s ERP application, its configurations, functional modules, business process optimization, and user support in an Oracle 12c database environment, without managing underlying hardware or core database administration. The ERP Systems Specialist acts as a key liaison between business operations (Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Product Development, and Engineering) and the business process application layer. Working with department leadership, the successful candidate will support change management activities, assist with application setup and configuration, and help ensure Oracle R12/12c application features align with enterprise objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Application & Functional Support
- Module Support: Support core functional areas within Oracle E-Business Suite (e.g., Financials [GL, AP, AR], SCM [Inventory, Purchasing, Order Management], or Manufacturing)
- Configuration & Enhancements: Support application-level setups, flex fields, workflow customizations, and personalization requests without altering core database structures.
- Release & Patch Coordination: Partner with QA and infrastructure teams to test and validate application patch sets, minor updates, and functional feature rollouts in Oracle 12c environments.
Business Alignment & Process Improvement
- Requirements Gathering: Translate complex operational workflows and financial reporting needs into functional system specifications.
- Continuous Optimization: Streamline business processes, eliminate operational bottlenecks, and drive user adoption through targeted training and process re-engineering.
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as a key point of contact for business stakeholders and process owners, working with department leadership to help resolve application roadblocks or enhancements.
Compliance, Testing & Data Integrity
- Access & Security Controls: Administer application security profiles, user responsibilities, role-based access controls (RBAC), and segregation of duties (SoD) in compliance with internal controls (e.g., SOX).
- Testing Support: Author and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts, functional test cases, and validation procedures during system changes or cyclical updates.
- Vendor & Integrator Collaboration: Collaborate with third-party implementation partners, software consultants, and application support vendors, in coordination with department leadership.
- Support change control, release management, and production deployments following ITIL or similar best practices
- Experience implementing and maintaining security controls, access management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements
- Create and maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, operating procedures, and recovery documentation
- Support vendor relationships, software licensing, maintenance agreements, and support contracts
- Participate in root cause analysis for production incidents and assist with implementing corrective actions
- Other duties as assigned involving the Application & Functional Support, Business Alignment & Process Improvement and Compliance, Testing & Data Integrity functional areas

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years enterprise systems administration support
- Experience working with Oracle Database 12c or similar systems in production environments
- Strong understanding of high availability architecture and BCDR planning
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience implementing and maintaining security controls, access management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements
- Experience with Oracle Solaris 10 operating systems, Oracle SPARC, Enterprise Manager, and RMAN
- Experience supporting Oracle E-Business Suite or other Oracle ERP platforms
- Oracle-specific certifications
- Experience with Oracle ASM and Oracle RAC
- Experience with virtualization technologies
- Knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell) and automation tools
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting solutions
- Experience supporting regulated environments with security and compliance requirements
- Azure/cloud migration experience
Work Environment:
This role operates primarily in an office setting with regular time spent in IT labs and manufacturing environments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and hands-on involvement in testing is expected. Use of standard office and IT tools are required, along with adherence to safety protocols and PPE in production areas.
