Position Overview

The Doorperson is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and well-managed entry experience for guests at the bar. This role monitors guest flow, checks identification, enforces entry policies, assists with crowd control, and supports team members in maintaining a secure and positive environment. The Doorman plays an essential role in ensuring guest safety, protecting bar property, and upholding responsible alcohol service standards.


What You'll Do

Guest Screening & Entry Management

• Greet guests promptly and professionally at the bar entrance.

• Check identification to verify legal drinking age in compliance with TABC requirements.

• Enforce bar entry policies, dress code requirements, and capacity limits.

• Control guest flow to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.

Safety, Security & Crowd Control

• Monitor guest behavior and identify signs of intoxication, unsafe conduct, or potential conflicts.

• De-escalate issues diplomatically and remove disruptive individuals when necessary.

• Assist bar staff in maintaining safe walkways, exits, and public areas.

• Respond to emergencies, incidents, or disturbances according to company procedures.

Communication & Coordination

• Communicate effectively with bartenders, servers, managers, and security staff to relay guest concerns or safety issues.

• Provide updates on crowd levels, wait times, and entry status.

• Assist with coordinating guest queues and managing high-volume entry periods.

• Report any suspicious activity to management immediately.

Customer Service & Hospitality

• Create a welcoming first impression while maintaining professionalism and authority.

• Provide guests with basic information about bar policies, seating availability, or event details.

• Assist guests with special needs, directions, or safety concerns.

• Maintain a calm, confident presence even in high-pressure situations.

Facility Support

• Help monitor cleanliness around entryways and outdoor areas.

• Ensure all entry lighting, signage, and barriers are properly placed and maintained.

• Assist with closing and end-of-shift walk-throughs as needed.

• Support managers with incident reports and documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and security updates.

• Assist with special events, private functions, or promotional nights.

• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support bar operations.

What You'll Bring

Required Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Prior experience in bars, nightlife venues, or security roles preferred.

• Training or coursework in conflict resolution, safety, or hospitality preferred.

• Experience working in high-volume guest environments preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong situational awareness and ability to identify potential risks.

• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.

• Ability to remain calm and professional in crowded or tense situations.

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.

• Ability to enforce rules respectfully and consistently.

• Strong teamwork skills and ability to coordinate with bar staff.

Other Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Must be comfortable working late nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards.

• Ability to work in outdoor or variable weather conditions when monitoring entry lines.

Licenses or Certificates

• Food Safe Serve/Texas Food Handlers Certification

• CPR certification

• TABC required and maintained
