This role is focused on managing strategic public healthcare accounts and maximizing the appropriate use of specialty therapies while supporting better patient outcomes. You will develop insight-driven account strategies that align customer needs, business objectives, and the evolving healthcare landscape. The position requires strong relationship management across healthcare stakeholders, including key decision-makers and healthcare professionals. You will collaborate closely with commercial, medical, market access, supply chain, and other internal teams to deliver coordinated account plans. Through market intelligence and analytics, you will identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and adapt strategies to changing conditions. This is a patient-focused opportunity for an experienced pharmaceutical professional who can combine strategic thinking, commercial execution, and cross-functional leadership.
- Assess assigned accounts to understand their current situation, priorities, challenges, stakeholder landscape, and unmet needs.
- Develop comprehensive, insight-driven key account plans that align account priorities with business objectives and patient needs.
- Define and execute account objectives, tactics, KPIs, timelines, and budgets, ensuring progress is transparent to relevant account team members and leadership.
- Manage account plan execution and monitor performance against agreed objectives, making adjustments as market conditions and opportunities evolve.
- Conduct ongoing market surveillance and provide relevant field intelligence on customer needs, stakeholder activity, market trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities.
- Partner with market access colleagues to support appropriate product access within local formularies, protocols, and relevant healthcare systems.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams to help ensure appropriate product availability at account level.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with strategic accounts and their key stakeholders.
- Identify influential external stakeholders and develop a strong understanding of their needs, collaborating on initiatives and mutually beneficial solutions that create value for customers and patients.
- Support the implementation of innovative offerings with key stakeholders and communicate their value within the relevant healthcare environment.
- Provide appropriate guidance to healthcare professionals regarding the correct use of relevant products and services.
- Coordinate closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, and other internal functions to ensure alignment between account strategies and stakeholder activities.
- Lead core account team meetings, monitor action plans, and communicate account progress and priorities to management.
- Identify collaboration gaps or misalignments and proactively work with stakeholders to resolve them.
- Prioritize accounts and business opportunities based on customer relationships, decision-maker engagement, market potential, and local stakeholder needs.
- Analyze sales performance, market developments, competitor activity, and account outcomes to identify opportunities and recommend mitigating actions.
- Apply learnings from account performance to continuously improve planning and execution.
- Operate in accordance with applicable legal, compliance, marketing, and sales requirements while representing the organization's values professionally.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Pharmacy, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification such as PGDBA or MBA is desirable but not mandatory.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 5 years within a specialty-care environment such as pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
- Strong understanding of specialty-care therapy areas and products, with relevant super-specialty knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience managing relationships across a broad range of healthcare customer types and stakeholders.
- Experience in key account management is desirable.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare environment, including customer needs, market dynamics, access considerations, and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to develop strategic account plans using customer insights, market intelligence, analytics, and business data.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive, long-term professional relationships.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to adapt messages to different audiences and gain support for strategic initiatives.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across commercial, medical, market access, supply chain, and other functions.
