At ms consultants, you'll collaborate closely with a dedicated manager and mentor on projects aligned with your field of study, enhancing your classroom learning with real-world applications. You’ll be involved in live projects within our Transportation Business Unit, tackling real-life design challenges and delivering innovative solutions for our clients.
The Transportation Summer 2027 Internship provides a unique opportunity to gain experience across Bridge Inspection, Highway, and Roadway sectors—all within one summer!
- Assist with Roadway Geometric Design and Plan preparation.
- Assist with Drainage Design and Plan preparation.
- Assist with inspections in the field, entry of field data in into specialized software, entry of data into Microsoft Word/Excel/Access, assembly of reports and other documents.
- Willingness to operate with proper training, access equipment (man-lift, snoopers, boats, etc.)
- Undertake diverse design assignments, progressively assuming more responsibility under the guidance of a department manager.
- Support technical staff on day-to-day projects, providing valuable assistance.
- Gain exposure to all organizational levels, including interactions with senior leadership.
- Receive ongoing guidance and feedback from mentors and managers aligned with our core competencies to support your growth.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD, and familiarity with OpenRoad Designer is preferred but not required
- Detail-oriented with strong technical skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform fieldwork, including carrying ladders and gear, working at heights, climbing, and in various weather conditions
- Willingness to travel out of town for inspections; mileage and travel expenses will be reimbursed
- Fast learner with attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong verbal and communication skills
