Regulatory Affairs Analyst II

The Regulatory Affairs Analyst II serves as a trusted business partner, helping strengthen governance, mitigate risk, support complaint investigations, and drive operational excellence across the enterprise while advancing the Company's long-term objectives.

This position works closely with leadership and key stakeholders across Underwriting, Claims, Legal, Product, Operations, and Customer Service to address complex issues, evaluate risk, and support regulatory and operational initiatives.

A strong Personal Auto underwriting background is essential to success in this role. We are seeking an analytical professional who understands coverage, policy language, underwriting decision-making, and risk evaluation, and who is interested in expanding their expertise into regulatory affairs, complaint investigations, compliance, and business operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned regulatory compliance activities, which may include complaint handling, regulatory research, compliance reviews, audits, examinations, process reviews, or regulatory communications.
  • Review and analyze laws, regulations, bulletins, and guidance to determine business impact and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Evaluate business processes, procedures, forms, and operational practices to identify compliance risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Investigate regulatory complaints, gather supporting documentation, coordinate with internal business units, and prepare regulatory responses, as assigned.
  • Conduct regulatory research and summarize findings for Compliance leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, market conduct examinations, regulatory inquiries, and other compliance reviews.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, correspondence, and other materials to support regulatory activities and leadership reporting.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Product, Claims, Underwriting, Customer Service, Operations, and other business units to resolve regulatory issues and implement compliance requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assist with implementing changes to policies, procedures, workflows, and operational practices.
  • Identify trends, process gaps, and operational risks and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and tracking tools related to assigned regulatory activities.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned to support evolving business and regulatory needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, insurance operations, or a related field considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, complaint handling, audits, insurance operations, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of insurance operations, regulatory requirements, complaint handling standards, and compliance practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate processes, identify trends, interpret data, and recommend improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize complex information and communicate effectively with leadership and business partners.
  • Ability to provide guidance, training, and support to team members while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with reporting tools, complaint management systems, or compliance platforms preferred.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing business prioritize

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with other, Regulatory Affairs staff, Legal Counsel, cross-functional business units, and external partners (e.g., copy services, regulatory bodies).
  • Ability to communicate with others in a professional, courteous, and collaborative manner, fostering teamwork and supporting a positive compliance culture.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, to explain processes, summarize information, and interpret instructions from leadership.
  • Able to represent the Company in a professional manner when interacting with regulators, external requestors, and internal stakeholders, contributing to the Company’s reputation and corporate image.
  • Able to consistently provide reliable support to team members and deliver accurate, timely responses to requests.
  • Ability to respond promptly and accurately to communications from leadership, peers, and external contacts.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment or approved remote work environment.
  • Standard business hours apply, with occasional extended hours required to meet project deadlines or attend leadership meetings.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of working on a computer and utilizing various software applications.
  • Frequent interaction with employees, management, insurance carriers, agents, brokers, and other business partners may be required.
  • Work involves handling confidential and sensitive information and requires adherence to company privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Position may require the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet operational demands, project deadlines, or business needs.
  • Minimal travel may be required for meetings, training, or company events.
  • Must be comfortable navigating multiple systems and screens simultaneously.
  • Requires clear, professional verbal communication and active listening skills.

  • Must be able to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
