Job Description
SUMMARY
This position provides a variety of outpatient behavioral health assessments, therapeutic, and treatment services for children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups in the Copper River region.
JOB DUTIES
- Provide a wide range of therapeutic assessments, client counseling, treatment, and referral services to children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups and other behavioral health clients, under supervision of the Behavioral Health Clinical Director.
- Coordinate therapeutic services with CRNA and regional providers in accomplishing goals/objectives of treatment plans.
- Provide behavioral health services that include but are not limited to outpatient substance abuse treatment, outpatient psychotherapy, and aftercare for all qualifying residents in the Copper River region.
- Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and providers in accomplishing treatment plans.
- Work with both voluntary and involuntary client populations.
- Participate in prevention, education, and outreach activities
in the villages, in Glennallen School, the community, and Behavioral Health-sponsored events. - Ensure that all clinical records and documentation are accurate, timely, and in compliance with CARF, State, Federal, ethical guidelines, CRNA, and other identified guidelines.
- Travel when required to regional communities to provide services.
- Enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques.
- Work as an effective team member within the Behavioral Health Department and CRNA.
- Take initiative to link clients to other services.
- Facilitate group therapy.
- Attend required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- If the schedule is less than 80% booked, the behavioral health clinician could be assigned to help manage grants
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental health problems
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
- Ability to use appropriate training, instructional methods, and techniques/procedures based upon the situation and current qualification.
- Willingness to learn about and understand the impact of historical, developmental, and related forms of trauma on clients and community members.
- Ability to incorporate Alaska Native culture and lifestyle by utilizing culturally sensitive interventions.
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.
- Highly self-motivated and organized.
- Effective time management skills and discipline.
- Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants.
- Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations, and organizational matters.
- Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a mental health field: social work, counseling, or psychology.
- Obtain Alaska Clinical Licensure in designated field within three years of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years of supervised clinical work experience post-graduation.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records.
WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is generally sedentary and requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than 25 lbs. Most of the work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus. May require local travel between CRNA service sites, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided as needed.
SPECIFICATIONS
Supervision Received:
The Clinical Supervisor will monitor work through meetings, reports, and regular communication. General operational guidelines are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and CRNA policies and procedures.
Supervision Exercised:
Position will not exercise supervision.
Contacts:
Contacts include, but are not limited to, volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.
CONDITIONS OF HIRE

- CRNA is a non-tolerance workplace. All employees must pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screening to be eligible for and maintain employment.
- CRNA has several positions that require a criminal background check for the safety of our clients. All employment offers in the “covered” classification are conditional until CRNA has received a federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs.
- First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.
- Annual TB screens for required positions.
