POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Research Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and coordination of clinical research operations, including participant recruitment, retention, screening, enrollment, follow-up, clinic activities, data collection, and field-based research activities. This position supervises research staff, manages participant tracking systems, coordinates clinic and community-based operations, and ensures compliance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.

The Senior Research Coordinator works closely with the Project Director, Principal Investigators, Project Managers, study endpoints teams, and local research staff to support successful implementation of research activities, achievement of recruitment and retention goals, maintenance of high-quality data, and timely completion of study milestones.

Clinical Research Operations

  • Arrange staff schedules and workstation assignments to ensure adequate staff coverage and clinic space for study visits and study procedures
  • Oversee daily clinical research activities across clinic, community, office, telephone-based, and home-visit settings.
  • Monitor clinic schedules: staff and study equipment calibrations and address operational issues affecting participant appointments
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure that research activities are conducted in accordance with approved protocols, study procedures, regulatory, and institutional requirements.
  • Monitor study progress and identify operational barriers that may impact project timelines or milestones.
  • Collaborate with study leadership to implement process improvements and corrective actions when needed.
  • Monitor staff productivity and performance
  • Train new staff on study procedures, policies, and data systems.

Recruitment and Retention

  • Develop and implement participant recruitment and retention strategies to achieve study enrollment goals.
  • Supervise recruitment and retention team members and retention activities conducted in clinics, participants’ homes, and community settings.
  • Coordinate outreach activities, community engagement efforts, and participant communication initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and distribute recruitment and retention materials.
  • Monitor participant engagement and identify individuals at risk of follow-up loss
  • Implement retention strategies to improve participant adherence and ongoing study participation.
  • Arrange participant transportation and coordinate reimbursement for approved study-related expenses.
  • Oversee participant screening and enrollment activities conducted in person, via telephone and in the field
  • Maintain accurate enrollment tracking systems using study designated data collection systems
  • Coordinate annual participant follow-up activities including but not limited to: Monitoring participant contact schedules and ensure timely completion of follow-up interviews

Research Data Collection

  • Conduct and supervise in-person data collection activities.
  • Manage the administration of study questionnaires
  • Ensure data collection activities are conducted consistently across study participants and staff
  • Monitor completion rates and data quality metrics and trends affecting data collections

Data Management and Reporting

  • Maintain participant tracking systems using REDCap, Microsoft Excel, Outlook calendars, and other approved platforms.
  • Review research records for quality, completeness, and protocol compliance.
  • Monitor data entry activities and resolve missing information.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and study leadership to ensure data collection goals are met.
  • Generate and prepare routine, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports.
  • Communicate study progress to Project Directors, Principal Investigators, program managers, and research teams.
  • Participate in local and national study meetings, conference calls, and collaborative initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and/or 5-7 years of related experience. Master's Degree Prferred
  • Familiarity with NYC area; particularly Bronx and its residents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Eng/Spanish) w/Native proficiency in Spanish
  • Experience using standardized data collection instruments. Experience in using data management software, such as Redcap. Must possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with community engagement activities; culturally competent
  • Experience supervising staff or coordinating research team activities.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to conduct clinic visits, fieldwork, community outreach, and participant home visits
  • Ability to travel locally for participant visits, outreach activities, and community events.
  • Ability to perform basic participant assessments, including height and weight measurements.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to accommodate study activities and participant schedules
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Salary Range:
USD $70,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary Range:
USD $75,000.00/Yr.
