Registered Nurse, Wound Care
Skin and Aesthetic Centers | Full Time, 36 to 40 Hours per Week | New Jersey
POSITION SUMMARY
Registered Nurse with hands-on wound care experience to serve as the primary clinical nurse supporting our wound care physician. This is a dedicated wound care role rather than a general nursing position. The Registered Nurse in this position works alongside a single provider across a set group of locations, carrying the clinical continuity of a traveling wound care caseload from assessment through healing.
Prior wound care experience is required and is not something we are able to train in this position.
LOCATIONS AND TRAVEL
This position supports the wound care physician across our Jackson, Galloway, and West Deptford locations on a set, predictable schedule rather than one that shifts week to week. Mileage is reimbursed for travel beyond thirty miles from your home address. A valid driver license and reliable transportation are required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary Registered Nurse for the wound care physician across all assigned locations
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments including measurement, staging, tissue evaluation, and documentation of healing progression
- Develop, implement, and revise wound care treatment plans in collaboration with the provider
- Perform wound cleansing, dressing changes, and conservative sharp debridement within the scope of New Jersey nursing practice and demonstrated competency
- Apply compression therapy, total contact casting, and advanced or specialty dressings as directed by the provider
- Assist the provider with in office procedures and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and supplies
- Obtain and document vital signs, patient histories, medication lists, and relevant comorbidities affecting wound healing
- Educate patients and caregivers on wound care, offloading, nutrition, and infection warning signs, and confirm understanding
- Monitor for signs of infection, deterioration, or vascular compromise and escalate to the provider promptly
- Coordinate with referring providers, home health agencies, and durable medical equipment vendors as needed
- Document patient encounters accurately and completely in the electronic medical record
- Follow infection control, sterilization, and OSHA protocols without exception
- Manage supply inventory and stock treatment rooms at each location
- Support patient flow so that clinic days run on schedule across a traveling caseload
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey
- Demonstrated hands-on wound care experience in a clinical setting
- Strong sterile technique and working knowledge of infection control standards
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Valid driver license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between the listed locations
- Comfort operating as the sole nurse supporting one provider
Preferred
- WCC, CWCN, CWS, or WOCN certification
- Experience in a dedicated wound care center, hyperbaric setting, dermatology, podiatry, or vascular practice
- Familiarity with compression wraps, total contact casting, and advanced wound care products
- Experience with debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, and skin substitute application
- Electronic medical record experience
- Bilingual Spanish and English
