Position Summary
Zachry Construction is seeking a Paving Superintendent to join our operations team. The Paving Superintendent is responsible for planning and leading field concrete paving operations to meet production goals and performance expectations. This position supervises field foremen and works closely with field engineering staff and other project personnel on heavy highway, road, and bridge projects to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient construction.
What You'll Do
- Ensure all concrete paving work complies with project specifications and monitor work progress and quality throughout the project
- Schedule and direct work crews and foremen to meet daily production goals
- Prepare work plans, hazard analyses, and safety assessments for upcoming activities
- Manage quality control processes to ensure compliance and performance standards are met
- Track and manage project costs to maintain budget control
- Schedule equipment, materials, and subcontractors as needed for continuous operations
- Implement and administer company safety programs and ensure compliance with all regulations
- Supervise field construction activities related to concrete paving and associated work
- Perform daily inspections of ongoing work to verify progress and quality
- Identify and resolve problems or conflicts that arise in the field
- Prepare and maintain various schedules for crews, equipment, and materials
- Continuously evaluate work methods and make adjustments to improve productivity, safety, and quality outcomes

What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 10 years of heavy highway construction superintendent experience
- Experience managing medium to large projects ($10M+) required
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of concrete paving construction methods, engineering principles, and best practices
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented and efficient
- Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company vehicle to work sites, offices, and other required locations
- Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site
