Position Summary

Zachry Construction is seeking a Structures Superintendent to lead and manage operations related to the placement of precast or formed concrete structures on heavy civil construction projects. The Structures Superintendent is responsible for meeting production goals by effectively managing multiple foremen, subcontractors, and equipment while maintaining safety and quality standards. This position ensures work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and direct multiple foremen, equipment, and subcontractors to meet production goals and ensure safe operations
  • Create plans and reports to support schedule updates and project forecasting
  • Develop detailed work plans and two-week schedule look-aheads
  • Set and achieve production goals; communicate plans, safety, and schedules in weekly meetings
  • Continuously evaluate operations and methods to identify safer and more efficient work processes
  • Calculate materials and quantities for ordering and production purposes
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with owners, clients, managers, and employees
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and organization of work areas, trucks, and trailers
  • Review and understand daily and monthly cost reports, forecasts, and project projections
  • Manage crew performance, equipment utilization, and resource allocation
  • Report injuries and damages promptly and take steps to prevent future incidents
  • Ensure compliance with Zachry policies, SWPPP, and EPA regulations
  • Understand the responsibilities of foremen and provide mentorship and guidance as needed
  • Recruit, interview, and hire qualified applicants for open positions; participate in disciplinary actions, promotions, and terminations as necessary
  • Serve as an expert in forming systems including EFCO, DOKA, and Wood; ensure pour rates align with manufacturer specifications
  • Teach and manage form cycling and workflow processes
  • Direct finishing operations for structural concrete, flatwork, foundations, elevated roadway surfaces, and ensure proper point, pitch, and patch techniques
  • Ensure safe work practices when operating at elevated heights

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of heavy highway, road, and bridge construction experience required
  • Experience managing civil projects ($10M+) required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
  • Experience with Mobile Timecard preferred
  • Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company vehicle to work sites, offices, and other required locations
  • Knowledge of dirt excavation techniques to support structural operations
  • Understanding of crane and rigging operations; experience setting up Bidwell and bridge paving systems
  • Knowledge of prefabricated concrete building materials and installation procedures
  • Strong understanding of various types and classes of concrete and rebar, as well as associated testing procedures and tolerances
  • Expertise in forming systems including EFCO, DOKA, and Wood
  • Experience working around existing utilities and performing utility locates
  • Knowledge of load charts and rigging practices with the ability to identify changes in project scope
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and train others to do so
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented and proactive
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented
  • Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site
