Wadsworth Company, LLC is currently seeking an accomplished professional to join our Team as a Senior Alternative Delivery Design Engineer to work within our Estimating, Engineering and Alternative Delivery Departments. We are seeking a Alternative Delivery Engineer with a strong background in Highway Design for large Design Build, Progressive Design Build, and CMGC projects.

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company, (RLW) builds multi-million dollar projects throughout the Intermountain West for both the public and private sectors. Recently we have been successful on a number of major projects totaling over 200 million dollars.



Position_Description :

Provide engineering design services for design-build highway projects. You will collaborate with our Design-Build Pursuit and Estimating Teams to develop new ideas, MOT strategies and alternatives on highway projects. You will collaborate with other members of our Team to conceptualize the initial design approach for interchanges, highways, roadways, bridges and walls for large transportation related projects.

In addition to Design, work within Task Force Meetings to optimize current Designs and provide efficiencies in design and construction.

  1. The position of Roadway Design Engineer requires that the candidate be detail-oriented in order to ensure all aspects of our Designs, Proposals and/or estimates are compliant, correct, and complete. This position also requires the candidate to multi-task numerous competing deadlines; therefore, candidate should be proactive and be able to work independently. Finally, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills in order to keep the Pursuit team up-to-date and informed at every phase of Proposal and Design development.


Position Requirements :

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Roadway Design Lead for major transportation projecting including the design and review of roadway models.
  2. Reviews and interprets RFP requirements to develop comprehensive, compliant roadway designs.
  3. Collaborates with project managers and estimating teams to brainstorm strategy and approach and ensure decisions are compliant with the RFP.
  4. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive roadway design experience is required in including performing design of various aspects of transportation infrastructure such as highways, arterial streets, interchanges, MOT, and wall profiles.
  5. Develop alternative concepts, ATC’s and compare them against baseline concepts from a quantity, cost and performance perspective.
  6. Develop new alternatives, alignments, profiles, interchange types and compare them against baseline design concepts.
  7. Experience with Microstation / InRoads
  8. Experience with Intelligent Design/ 3D or BIM Modeling is preferred.
  9. You will coordinate design deliverables from our design consultants and assist our Estimating Teams in quantifying scope for various parts of the project.
  10. Utilizing Microstation and InRoads develop quantities for cost estimates
  11. Assist the Estimating group in estimating of key aspects of highway projects
  12. Track RFP and addendum releases, and incorporate these requirements into our designs.
  13. Assist the pursuit team with exhibits pulled from our Designs for the use in Proposals.
  14. Performs related work as assigned.
  15. Work within stringent time frames to meet proposal deadlines
  16. A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering is required
  17. Familiarity with the construction industry
  18. Be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision and as a team player

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language
  2. Highly organized, detailed oriented, and display strong time-management skills.
  3. Proficiency in Microstation and InRoads
  4. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  5. Ability to work well under pressure, meeting tight, multiple, and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  6. Ability to set priorities and multi-task.
  7. Ability to think strategically, apply sound judgment, is resourceful, troubleshoot, and take initiative.
