Job Description
Job Summary: Day Shift
The IOP Coordinator provides quality direct and indirect patient care to individuals in the Outpatient Behavioral Health Program. Coordinates access of care between the clients and the therapists and providers. Maintains accurate program and client documentation including billing, documentation, registration, reporting, and medical records. Provides clerical and secretarial support to managerial staff and a variety of office duties as assigned.
Functions and Duties:
- Chart preparation and formation.
- Complete registration paperwork with new patients.
- Scan documents in EMR.
- Maintain the tracking of client’s admissions, visits, and discharges.
- Maintain updated information on Insurances accepted by the department.
- Arrange transportation for clients and keeps transportation scheduled during the course of treatment.
- Complete Payroll for all employees accept the Manager/Director.
- Maintain tracking of staff for competencies and Risk Management.
- Collect data and conduct analysis as required resolving identified problems.
- Coordinate the ordering from materials management.
- Coordinate maintenance requests.
- Maintain statistical reports specific to billing, length of stay, date of service, admission, discharges, etc.
- Assist in monitoring all client activity upon arrival, breaks, meals, and during group if needed.
- Maintains a safe environment monitoring continuously for any harmful contraband.
- Provides crisis screening and services as needed.
- Attends Crisis Intervention, De-escalation, and Prevention training and BLS training.
- Attends in-services, trainings, and meetings as required. Maintains annual competencies as assigned by the Hospital and Department.
- Attends and participates in departmental meetings.
- Adheres to staffing and scheduling policy.
- Follow chain of command to resolve issues or problems identified.
- Maintains an active role in maintaining customer service.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- High School diploma or its GED equivalent required.
Experience
- 2 years Hospital experience and/or experience in a behavioral healthcare facility is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- BLS obtained during orientation period and maintained.
- De-Escalation training obtained during orientation period and maintained.
Skills and Abilities
- Standard office equipment (i.e., copier, facsimile machine, 10-key, etc.).
- Personal computer and printer.
- Specific computer software (i.e., MS Office applications, EHR systems, and Internet).
- Establishes collaborative relationship with physicians and other members of the health care team.
- Promotes harmonious relationships among the health care team and internal/external customers.
Physical Demands:
- Requires regular talking and hearing.
- Requires standing and walking.
- Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
- Ability to lift box of paper.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (mask, gown, gloves) when required.
