Job Summary:

The EHS Engineer will establish, maintain, and continuously improve the site’s Environmental, Health, Safety, and ESG management systems to support safe and compliant operations at an electronic device assembly facility. The role will serve as the primary site focal point for occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, fire and life safety, hazardous materials and waste, emergency response, employee training, incident management, contractor safety, and ESG requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain site EHS programs and procedures to support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations. Conduct inspections, identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvement of workplace safety.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness programs, procedures, and drills for potential workplace emergencies. Coordinate emergency response activities and work with internal teams and external agencies as needed.
  • Coordinate fire and life safety programs, inspections, and corrective actions to support a safe manufacturing environment. Partner with facility teams, contractors, and authorities to address fire protection and life safety requirements.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training based on regulatory requirements, site hazards, and operational needs. Support programs such as safety orientation, hazardous materials, emergency response, forklift safety, and other required training.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, documentation, and corrective actions. Track corrective actions to completion and identify trends and preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.
  • Collect, maintain, and report EHS and ESG data to support corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance, safety metrics, sustainability, and overall site EHS effectiveness.
  • Manage EHS requirements for contractors, facility activities, and site projects to ensure safe work practices and regulatory compliance. Review contractor safety practices and support EHS requirements for facility expansion, equipment installation, and production ramp-up.
  • Support customer audits, RBA requirements, corporate EHS/ESG programs, and related assessments. Ensure site practices and documentation meet applicable customer, corporate, and responsible-business standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, or a related engineering or science discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • 4-7 years of experience in EHS or a related field, preferably within a high-technology manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of applicable environmental and safety regulations, including DTSC, BAAQMD, Water Board, and Cal/OSHA requirements, with the ability to independently assess regulatory applicability to manufacturing operations.
  • Proven experience managing occupational safety, environmental compliance, hazardous materials/waste, emergency preparedness, incident investigations, corrective actions, and contractor/facility safety programs.
  • Basic knowledge of corporate ESG requirements and experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting EHS/ESG data. Ability to identify risks and implement practical improvements that support production and business objectives.
  • Strong communication and training skills with the ability to develop and deliver employee EHS programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; OSHA 10/30-hour, Train-the-Trainer, or forklift safety training/certification experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and effectively balance regulatory compliance with production and facility requirements. Strong preference for candidates with experience supporting high-technology manufacturing operations and facility growth.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Primarily works in office, manufacturing, warehouse, and facility environments with frequent walking and standing. May inspect production areas, equipment, chemical storage, waste areas, and other site locations. May lift or carry equipment or materials up to 30 lbs. with assistance for heavier items. Requires appropriate PPE and the ability to work around manufacturing hazards, including chemicals, machinery, noise, and other regulated areas.
