Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Director of Finance, the Finance Manager is integral to the detailed preparation of the annual corporate budget in collaboration with program managers and senior leadership. The Finance Manager is responsible for budgeting and forecasting, revenue and expenditure tracking and financial reporting including those related to ministry and partner agency funding. Support financial audits, risk management and provides supervision and coaching to direct reports.
What You Will Do:
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting for assigned programs and funding sources.
- Partner with program leaders to develop budgets, monitor financial performance, and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, projections, reconciliations, variance reports, and funding submissions.
- Perform and oversee reconciliations of general ledger accounts and other accounts as maybe assigned.
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements, non-profit accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide on-going training and mentoring for the Program management on budgeting, forecasting, and general financial issues to augment the staff’s knowledge and skills and improve the department’s financial performance.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes, audits, financial reporting, and executive decision-making.
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager to see if all entries are in and reconciliations completed for payroll
- Manage and supervise a team of financial analysts, including performance management and development.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Finance and/or designated.
- University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA or equivalent) completed or in progress.
- Minimum 2 years of senior accounting and financial management experience, including team supervision.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders and support informed decision-making.
- Experience in the non-profit sector and/or working with multiple funding sources is considered an asset.
- Combination of walking and sitting for a long period of time.
- Ability to use office equipment and computers.
- Must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
