Description: Position Overview

The Branch Manager is responsible for the success and safety of the branch and its employees, including planning, budgeting, personnel development, quality control, customer relations, and business development. The successful Branch Manager communicates goals, objectives, and initiatives with the entire team and provides strategies that increase productivity. This position aims to provide leadership, training, and accountability for branch personnel in concert with Russell Landscape’s objectives.

Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this role; however, not everyone may perform the below responsibilities. In addition, there may be responsibilities not listed that are required to meet business needs.

• Serve as Acting Branch Manager in the absence of the Branch Manager, assuming full responsibility for branch performance, personnel decisions, and client outcomes.

• Drive execution of branch-level KPIs, ensuring alignment with revenue targets, margin expectations, and service delivery standards.

• Oversee daily operations to optimize efficiency, workforce utilization, and service quality.

• Provide direct oversight of the Assistant Branch Manager reporting structure, with Production Managers reporting to this role to ensure clear accountability and operational consistency.

• Lead workforce planning, employee engagement, and retention strategies in line with industry-leading practices.

• Conduct performance management, including quarterly check-ins and annual reviews for direct reports.

• Manage a portfolio of key accounts based on complexity, revenue value, and scope, ensuring high-touch service and retention.

• Partner with Account Managers to proactively identify risks, resolve issues, and enhance client satisfaction.

• Elevate service delivery standards to exceed industry benchmarks and differentiate in competitive markets.

• Develop and present a monthly operational dashboard, including KPIs related to production, safety, labor efficiency, and financial performance.

• Leverage data-driven insights to identify trends, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

• Oversee equipment, fleet, and inventory management, ensuring optimal utilization, cost control, and lifecycle planning.

• Maintain accountability for asset readiness and operational uptime, with mechanics reporting into the Assistant Branch Manager for streamlined maintenance execution.

• Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal safety protocols.

• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

• Oversee production scheduling and execution to ensure service delivery meets contractual standards and operational efficiency targets.

• Support field teams in troubleshooting technical issues (e.g., turf, plant health, environmental conditions) and implementing solutions.

Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum 5+ years of professional landscape maintenance leadership experience required.

• Proven experience in operations, landscaping, construction, or similar field-based industries

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and complex operations, ability to coach teams, conduct structured audits, and drive corrective action.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel; experience with dashboards/analytics tools preferred)

• Valid state driver’s license; ability to pass DOT requirements.

• Strong knowledge of horticulture, irrigation fundamentals, plant health diagnostics, and equipment operation.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead diverse crews in dynamic field environments.

Physical Demands

• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.

• Ability to drive long distances and navigate job sites.

• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of equipment and materials.

• Clear vision and physical dexterity required for equipment handling and inspections.
