Position Summary
The Automotive Diagnostic Technician performs vehicle diagnostics, ADAS calibrations, and light mechanical and electrical repairs at the new Watsonville AVT center. This hands-on role serves collision repair locations, other businesses, and retail customers while coordinating daily operations, maintaining customer relationships, and supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations while performing vehicle services.
• Perform vehicle diagnostics, programming, pre- and post-repair scans, and static and dynamic ADAS calibrations in accordance with OEM procedures and environmental requirements.
• Perform light mechanical and electrical work, including wheel alignments, suspension repairs, and wiring-harness repairs.
• Diagnose and service electric vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles within the individual’s training and qualifications.
• Follow OEM procedures and maintain accurate service, calibration, and repair documentation.
• Manage scheduling, estimates, upfront retail pricing, invoicing, customer communication, and recordkeeping.
• Travel to collision repair locations to assist with mechanical blueprinting, damage assessments, and related services.
• Develop new business and maintain customer relationships.
• Assist with hiring, training, supervision, and team development.
• Collaborate with AVT team members across the country for technical support, training, and consistent operating practices.
• Complete other related duties as business needs change.

Qualifications

Required
• Experience in vehicle diagnostics and programming, ADAS calibration, wheel alignments, suspension repair, automotive electrical diagnosis, wiring repair, and collision-related mechanical work.
• Formal training in at least one relevant technical area through I-CAR, ASE, an OEM, an equipment manufacturer, a technical school, or a comparable automotive training program.
• Experience using scan tools, wiring diagrams, OEM repair information, or related diagnostic resources.
• Strong troubleshooting, organization, and customer communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage daily priorities, and support the growth of the operation.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Complete assigned OEM, equipment, I-CAR, ASE, or other technical training.

Preferred
• Electric vehicle diagnostic or repair experience
• Experience using Hunter alignment equipment
• Collision repair blueprinting or damage-assessment experience
• Service advising, estimating, or invoicing experience
• Team leadership or shop operations experience

Work Location and Travel
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Watsonville, California. Local travel to collision repair locations and occasional travel for training or company meetings may be required.
