Description:

Summary

The Tool Maker is responsible for building, repairing, maintaining, and modifying precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, molds, and gauges used in manufacturing operations. This position requires strong machining knowledge, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work with close tolerances to support production and quality requirements.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

· Build, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain tooling, dies, fixtures, and molds.

· Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications.

· Operate manual and CNC machinery including mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses.

· Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators.

· Perform tool adjustments and modifications to improve production efficiency and product quality.

· Diagnose tooling problems and determine corrective actions.

· Fabricate replacement parts as needed to minimize production downtime.

· Assist engineering and production teams with tooling improvements and process development.

· Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and tooling inventory.

· Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Technical training, apprenticeship, or certification in Tool & Die or Machining preferred.

· Minimum of 3–5 years of related experience in tool making, machining, or tool and die work preferred.

· Strong understanding of machining practices, metal properties, and manufacturing processes.

· Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.

· Experience using precision measuring equipment.

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
