What we offer:

Job Functions:

The Development Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Advancement team across both Metropolitan Ministries (MMI) and the Metropolitan Ministries Foundation (MMF/Legacy Giving). This position contributes to the success of fundraising efforts by strengthening donor relationships, supporting major and planned giving initiatives, and ensuring excellence in donor engagement, stewardship, and operations. The Coordinator partners closely with the Advancement Team and Foundation leadership to support the full donor lifecycle—identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship—while also providing essential administrative and project coordination support. This role helps advance both current and legacy giving strategies to achieve annual and long-term resource development goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

Advancement & Donor Support

  • Support the Advancement team in managing donor relationships across MMI and MMF, including major, planned, and legacy donors
  • Assist in the execution of donor engagement strategies, ensuring consistent and meaningful touchpoints
  • Coordinate and track donor stewardship activities, including recognition, reporting, and communications

Foundation & Legacy Giving Support

  • Provide administrative and project support for MMF (planned/legacy giving initiatives)
  • Assist in managing legacy society communications, recognition, and engagement opportunities
  • Help maintain donor records related to estate/planned gifts in alignment with confidentiality and compliance standards

Prospect Research & Pipeline Support

  • Conduct donor and prospect research to support portfolio development and strategic decision-making
  • Analyze giving history, capacity, and engagement trends to inform cultivation strategies
  • Maintain accurate and timely data in the donor database (Virtuous)

Events & Engagement

  • Support planning and execution of Advancement fundraising events, including donor cultivation events, special events, and Foundation-related gatherings
  • Assist with sponsorship tracking, guest management, and follow-up activities
  • Support Ministries-wide initiatives such as Holiday Center and signature events

Affinity Groups & Volunteer Leadership

  • Provide administrative and communication support for volunteer leadership and affinity groups, including Ambassadors, LampLighters, Councils, and the Advancement Committee
  • Coordinate meetings, materials, and engagement activities to strengthen volunteer-led fundraising

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Support Advancement leadership with scheduling, reporting, donor correspondence, and project coordination
  • Ensure strong documentation, organization, and follow-through on key initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Programs, Grants, Donor-Facing, and Marketing teams

Compliance & Ethics

  • Adhere to all organizational policies, donor intent requirements, confidentiality standards, and fundraising ethics
  • Ensure proper handling of restricted gifts, donor records, and regulatory expectations
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development operations, donor relations, or special events preferred.

Skills Requirements:

Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities. High attention to detail and follow-through. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and leadership. Experience with donor databases (CRM), Microsoft Office Suite, and research tools. Comfort with data entry, reporting, and donor tracking systems.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Flexible schedule, including availability for occasional evenings and weekends for events. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including events and temporary settings. Stamina to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual demands of the role.

Other:
