The CDL Class-A Truck Driver is tasked with safely transporting parts and finished product between i2Systems’ Morris and Watertown, CT facilities and making scheduled regional deliveries to customers in New York and Massachusetts. Reporting to the Production Manager, this on-site, first-shift role emphasizes safety, reliability, and great communication while supporting day-to-day plant operations. This role will also include responsibility involving preproduction kitting, conducting cycle counts, order picking, and material handling ensuring the materials and products are available, accurate, and efficiently managed to meet production and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transfer parts/product between Morris ↔ Watertown, CT; make scheduled deliveries to NY & MA customers.
- Follow company protocols for loading/unloading; secure freight to prevent damage.
- Perform daily safety checks/pre-trip & post-trip inspections; document and report issues.
- Monitor/coordinate vehicle maintenance and service appointments as required.
- Consistently adhere to traffic and safety regulations; represent i2Systems professionally on the road and at customer sites.
- Assist the Production Manager and Shipping/Receiving team as needed to meet schedules and priorities.
- Perform preproduction kitting by preparing and staging materials required for scheduled builds.
- Conduct regular cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
- Execute order picking for internal and external orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Handle materials safely and efficiently, including receiving, storing, replenishing, and transferring stock as required.
- Support inventory transactions in the ERP/WMS system, ensuring all movements are properly recorded.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure smooth material flow and prevent shortages.
- Assist in maintaining organized storage areas, ensuring proper labeling, location accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and workflow.
- Communicate inventory issues or shortages promptly to the Inventory Manager.
Requirements:
- Valid CDL Class-A license.
- 2+ years CDL-A driving experience with a clean safety and legal record.
- Clear, professional communication; dependable and detail-oriented.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; team-first attitude.
- Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to train).
- Ability to work 1st shift with occasional overtime.
- Prior experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or material handling preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems and basic inventory management practices.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
