Cloud Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Engineer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design, automate, and maintain highly scalable cloud infrastructure supporting critical financial technology platforms.
You will work at the intersection of cloud engineering, automation, reliability, and modern DevOps practices.
The position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and improving system performance.
You will collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to build secure, resilient, and efficient cloud environments.

Accountabilities:

As a Cloud Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize cloud infrastructure while driving operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and reliability-focused engineering practices. You will contribute to scalable solutions, improve system resilience, and support a high-performing technology environment.

  • Design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS services and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, deployment processes, and quality controls.
  • Develop monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions using tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, and related platforms.
  • Automate operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and minimize errors.
  • Maintain high availability, performance, and reliability across large-scale cloud platforms.
  • Implement proactive monitoring strategies for system health, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
  • Execute infrastructure maintenance, patching cycles, and upgrades while minimizing service disruption.
  • Design and support disaster recovery, business continuity, and resilience strategies.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement vulnerability remediation workflows, access controls, and compliance automation.
  • Develop clean, maintainable code and infrastructure tools using Python and other modern programming languages.
  • Create internal tools, dashboards, and automation solutions that improve engineering productivity.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning tools, where they provide operational value.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, and on-call support activities when required.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a technically skilled cloud professional with strong software development abilities, experience managing complex environments, and a passion for automation and reliability engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing large-scale, highly available cloud platforms.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Python development focused on automation and infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS core services, including EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, and API Gateway.
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in at least one additional language such as Go, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security principles, and cost optimization.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, CodePipeline, or GitHub Actions.
  • Hands-on knowledge of monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, and observability practices.
  • Familiarity with Docker and container orchestration technologies.
  • Experience with APIs, modern web frameworks, databases, version control, and automated testing practices.
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and AI tooling integration is a plus.
  • AWS certifications, Kubernetes or ECS experience, chaos engineering knowledge, and experience building internal developer platforms are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across engineering, security, and business teams.
  • Strong ownership mentality, attention to code quality, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to participate in occasional off-hours maintenance activities and on-call rotations.
