Job Title: Retail – Automotive Technician Level III

Reports To: Courtney Morton

Location: Mt. Airy, NC

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


This position has typical work hours Monday – Friday from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, Saturdays 7:30am -12pm as needed

Job Description
The Automotive Technician III is an essential part of the PTC retail team. In this role you will have continued opportunity for growth with PTC as you continue to gain more experience and learn new skills. As a retail tire and general service technician you will be required to perform a wide range of tasks from general maintenance and repair items to tire installations and oil changes. Items that may include but are not limited to the key points in the following points.


Essential Functions and Tasks:

    Focusing on work quality, customer satisfaction, continued learning and safetyExperience in mechanical repairs.Having the ability to adapt to different equipment (tire machines, balancers, etc.)Assisting with junior technicians, diagnostics, and other problems that may arisePerforming diagnostics and troubleshooting of drivability and engine problemsIdentifying tire and wheel sizes as well as tire ply ratings.Properly torquing wheels Troubleshooting and repairing tire pressure monitoring system Checking and completing basic services such as brakes, alignments, fluid changes, headlight bulbs, filters, serpentine belts and suspension.Diagnosing tire wear or vibration problems. Performing flat tire repairs. Identifying the cause of a leakDetermining if it can be safely repaired or if it needs to be replaced
Assisting in shop and grounds clean up to maintain a clean and safe work environment Keep equipment clean and organizedFollowing Tire Industry Association (TIA) safety procedures Any other duties assigned by the store managerQualifications

    Minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive industryASE Certifications preferred but not requiredHigh School Diploma or GEDMust pass background check and drug screen.Advanced TIA Tire Service Certification Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 lbsCertified to perform State Inspections

Required Physical Abilities:

Physical requirements of this position may require a range of activities. These can include, but are not limited to:

Lifting and carrying – the ability to lift and transport objects of specified weights, which may vary by job. For example, a job may require lifting up 25-50lbs regularly. Standing and walking – this position will require standing and walking for periods of timeBending and stooping – bending, stooping, or crouching are requiring to effectively preform essential duties of this position.Reaching and pushing/pulling – the ability to reach for items, push carts, or pull equipment will be necessary for daily activities.Sitting – there will be times this position will be needed to sit for prolonged periods of time.This position will also be required to operate certain machinery and other equipment safely.

Work Environment:

This position will require employees to work in certain weather conditions, such as heat, cold, as well as potentially confined spaces.
