Systems Safety Engineer II in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform system safety analyses in accordance with ARP4761, ARP4754A, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), System Safety Assessments (SSA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), and Common Cause Analyses (CCA).
- Evaluate aircraft systems and architectures to identify potential hazards and verify compliance with 14 CFR 25.1309 and related guidance.
- Support aircraft certification programs through development of safety documentation and regulatory compliance data packages.
- Coordinate with systems, design, software, hardware, test, and certification engineering disciplines to ensure proper allocation and implementation of safety requirements.
- Assess engineering changes for safety impacts and compliance implications.
- Support investigation and resolution of safety-related issues identified during development, certification, production, and in-service operations.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and certification documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, safety review boards, and regulatory meetings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to system safety processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of engineering experience in aerospace, systems engineering, safety engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with system safety assessment methodologies including FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA, and CCA preferred.
- Familiarity with FAA certification requirements and aircraft development processes preferred.
Other Requirements
- Working knowledge of ARP4761, ARP4754A, and 14 CFR Part 25 certification requirements.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams, management, and regulatory authorities.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop technical reports and certification documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 18 months related Engineering experience. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Master's and 4 years for PhD in field applicable to the job position.
Position Purpose:
Performs engineering work related to the investigation and the solution of technical problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.
