Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and qualified Quantum Computer Operations Engineer to join our team operating and maintaining an on-premises Helios quantum computer in Singapore. This system is part of our partnership ( https://www.quantinuum.com/press-releases/singapores-national-quantum-office-and-quantinuum-forge-strategic-partnership-to-accelerate-quantum-computing) with the Singapore National Quantum Office to accelerate quantum computing. The ideal candidate will have a background in instrument control, automation, test engineering, and/or system integration, and will bring their previous experience developing and improving cutting-edge software in a commercial or research and development environment to bear on our commercial quantum computers. Day-to-day work will involve complex problem solving; collaborating with a global team to operate quantum computers; developing operations standards and documentation; and optimizing system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain an on-premises Helios quantum computer as part of a small team

Maintain software configuration and quality for the on-premises quantum computer

Troubleshoot software and hardware (via software and/or computer interfaces) subsystems as needed to return the quantum computer to service

Remotely operate and troubleshoot cloud-based quantum computers as a part of a global team- tasks include software diagnostics, configuration, recovery, or coordination with onsite teams

Contribute to novel areas of software development in support of customer-focused operations as able
Essential Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development or a related technical field

Two or more years of post-graduate experience (M.S. or Ph.D. inclusive) in a software development, software engineering, or academic or industrial research and development role

Experience with collaboration tools (e.g. version control, bug tracking systems) and general programming tools (e.g. a debugger, profiler, software testing tools)

Ability to communicate technical and non-technical content clearly in spoken and written English
-
Availability to travel abroad for training or other business needs and flexibility to do so at short notice

Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen

Experience working on software with a team including backend and QA engineers, communicating ideas, and reviewing and writing code as demonstrated through previous work experience or public software projects

Proficiency in Python and web development

Experience in instrumentation, automation, and/or test engineering

Interest in quantum information science (QIS) and knowledge of fundamental physics or programming concepts related to QIS

Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, or optical systems including building, validating, optimizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting

Documentation, technical writing, and presentation skills as evidenced by internal and/or external technical documentation, technical presentations, conference participation, and peer-reviewed engineering and/or scientific publications

International exposure and experience collaborating across locations, cultures, or time zones.

Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in Singapore
