JOB OVERVIEW
The PA Announcer is a part-time, seasonal role serving as the official voice of Colorado Eagles home games in the American Hockey League (AHL). Working with the game presentation crew under the direction of the Director, Corporate Partnerships, this position delivers all in-game announcements, including lineups, goals, penalties, sponsor reads, and safety messages, accurately, on cue, and in an energetic, professional manner consistent with AHL standards and the Colorado Eagles brand. Announcers work all assigned preseason, regular season, and postseason Colorado Eagles home games.
Essential Job Functions:
- Announce starting lineups, player introductions, and pre-game ceremonies, including national anthem introductions and special presentations.
- Announce goals, assists, penalties, and other official game information as confirmed by the official scorer and on-ice officials.
- Read sponsor messages, promotions, and in-game features from the approved game-night script, on cue and as written.
- Deliver arena safety, emergency, and guest conduct announcements as directed by management or arena security.
- Follow cues from the game presentation producer over headset and adjust timing for commercial timeouts, stoppages, and video review.
- Coordinate with the off-ice officials, In-Arena Host, and video board operators to keep announcements accurate and in sync.
- Confirm correct pronunciation of player, coach, sponsor, and guest names before each game.
- Review the game-night script and roster updates in advance and attend the pre-game production meeting.
- Arrive at the time set by the supervisor, typically 1.5 to 2 hours before puck drop, and complete a microphone and sound check.
- Remain neutral and professional when announcing information about visiting teams, players, and officials, consistent with AHL guidelines.
- Represent the Colorado Eagles professionally at all times, including on microphone, in public areas, and on social media.
- Attend required preseason and in-season rehearsals and training sessions.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Corporate Partnerships or other management.

Job Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Clear, confident, well-modulated speaking voice with strong diction
- Working knowledge of hockey rules, terminology, and game flow
- Ability to read scripts accurately and react quickly to live, changing game situations
- Ability to take direction over headset while speaking on microphone
- Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday home games throughout the season
- Reliable transportation to the arena
- Prior public address, broadcast, radio, or live-event announcing experience preferred
- A sample audio recording or demo reel may be requested as part of the hiring process
Arena Environment:
- The primary physical environment in which this position works is an indoor ice arena, at the announcer position in the press box or at ice level, with exposure to cold temperatures, high crowd noise, and amplified sound.
- The position requires sitting or standing for long periods with sustained focus and continuous use of a microphone and headset.
- Ice-level announcer positions sit close to active play, where pucks may enter the area.
- Game shifts typically run 4 to 5 hours, including pre-game and post-game duties; overtime and shootouts extend the shift.
Shift type: Part-Time, Seasonal, Evenings, Weekends and Holidays
Pay: $60.00 per hour.
Timekeeping: Announcers clock in at arrival and clock out after game conclusion.
Benefits: This part-time position is not eligible for medical, dental, life insurance, or paid time off. Announcers earn Colorado paid sick leave at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
