Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Program Strategy and Operations Director based in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, science, and operations within a fast-moving, clinical-stage biotech environment. You will serve as a strategic and operational partner to an Asset Entrepreneur, helping shape decisions that directly influence the development of a high-potential medicine. Acting as the COO of a single-asset biotech program, you will drive execution across clinical, translational, regulatory, CMC, and commercial functions. You will transform complex scientific and operational information into clear, data-driven recommendations for executives, the Board, and investors. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, requiring you to identify obstacles, mobilize teams, and keep critical programs moving. You will also help build scalable operating practices, institutional knowledge, and a playbook for future development programs. This is an opportunity for an ambitious biotech leader to have visible impact on both an individual asset and the broader evolution of a growing organization.
- Act as a strategic thought partner to the Asset Entrepreneur, anticipating key program inflection points and evaluating scenarios to determine when to accelerate, pivot, or pause development activities.
- Own end-to-end program execution, operating as the operational lead for a single-asset biotech program and ensuring priorities, decisions, resources, and dependencies remain aligned.
- Coordinate closely across clinical, translational, regulatory, CMC, commercial, and other functional teams to maintain momentum and resolve obstacles.
- Identify and address execution gaps proactively, including coordinating internal stakeholders, mobilizing CROs and external partners, and creating practical solutions when challenges arise.
- Translate complex scientific, clinical, regulatory, and operational information into concise analyses, recommendations, presentations, and executive-level communications.
- Prepare clear, data-driven materials for C-suite leadership, Board discussions, investor engagements, and business development activities.
- Maintain disciplined program documentation, including key decisions, assumptions, benchmarks, dashboards, trackers, and action plans.
- Manage external vendors, advisors, CROs, and strategic partners while building relationships with leading experts within the relevant disease area.
- Support the development of scientific narratives around novel molecules and emerging biology, helping communicate their potential to patients, clinicians, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to company-wide operating knowledge by documenting benchmarks, lessons learned, best practices, and scalable approaches for future programs.
- Support the evolution of organizational culture, operating models, and processes as the organization expands across multiple diseases, mechanisms, and future commercial opportunities.
- Travel approximately monthly to meet with internal teams and key external stakeholders.
- Significant experience in biotech or pharmaceutical program management, portfolio or asset strategy, management consulting, business operations, or a comparable strategic role.
- Demonstrated ability to connect strategic thinking with hands-on execution in complex, cross-functional environments.
- Strong understanding of drug development and the ability to work effectively across clinical, translational, regulatory, CMC, and commercial disciplines.
- Proven ability to synthesize large volumes of complex information into clear, actionable insights and compelling executive-level recommendations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise, data-driven presentations, slides, and executive memos.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the judgment to evaluate risks, trade-offs, scenarios, and program inflection points.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI tools and the ability to incorporate AI into workflows as a practical multiplier of human judgment, creativity, and productivity.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to personally address gaps and execute beyond traditional role boundaries when necessary.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, move comfortably between long-term strategy and tactical execution, and maintain momentum in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Strong emotional intelligence, humility, integrity, and collaborative leadership style.
- High intellectual curiosity, analytical rigor, optimism, and the ability to motivate and align diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel approximately once per month for team and external stakeholder engagements.
- A growth-oriented mindset and demonstrated trajectory are valued alongside traditional credentials.
- Annual salary range of $275,000–$300,000.
- Fully remote position within the United States.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage at 90%, beginning on the first day.
- 401(k) plan with company match.
- Flexible paid time off.
- Company-wide weeklong recharge break.
- Adoption assistance.
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, drug discovery, science, strategy, and operations.
- High-impact position with direct visibility into strategic decisions, asset development, investor engagement, and company building.
- Opportunity to work closely with senior scientific, clinical, commercial, and executive stakeholders.
- Significant autonomy and ownership within a fast-growing biotech environment.
- Opportunity to help establish operating practices and institutional knowledge that will shape future development programs.
