Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain machining programs that support high-quality, efficient manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for translating engineering intent into effective machining strategies, ensuring parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
This is not a repetitive production programming role. We operate in a job shop environment where every project presents a new challenge. Success in this role requires a strong machining background, sound manufacturing judgment, and the ability to develop creative, efficient solutions for unique parts and applications.
What You'll Do- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and other CAM software.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to develop machining strategies.
- Select tooling, cutting parameters, and fixturing solutions to maximize performance.
- Simulate and verify toolpaths to ensure accuracy and prevent collisions.
- Support CNC machinists and operators with setup instructions and technical guidance.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues on the production floor.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cycle times and increasing efficiency.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to improve manufacturability and process performance.
- Maintain program documentation, revision control, and backups.
- Ensure all machining processes meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.
- 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong machining background with a thorough understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and setup practices.
- Proficiency with CAM software, preferably Mastercam.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Knowledge of G-code and CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, or similar.
- Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and process optimization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience programming 4-axis or 5-axis machining centers.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as Inventor or AutoCAD.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment.
If you thrive on solving complex machining challenges, developing new processes, and creating efficient manufacturing solutions, we'd like to hear from you.
