What you’ll be doing:
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for managing the flow of materials and products in and out of the warehouse and multiple company sites. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely shipments and deliveries, proper documentation, and efficient warehouse operations.
Location: Solon, OH
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving & Material Handling:
- Coordinate and receive incoming shipments.
- Inspect incoming goods for accuracy, quality, and damage.
- Verify received items against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipment quantities.
- Unload trucks and properly sort, label, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Accurately receive materials into the ERP system.
Shipping Coordination:
- Prepare outgoing shipments and customer orders.
- Package materials securely and label shipments appropriately.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Prepare shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, and international shipping paperwork when applicable.
Inventory Management:
- Track, scan, and maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system.
- Conduct routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Maintain accurate logs of inventory movement and material transfers.
Warehouse Operations:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Ensure materials are stored properly and warehouse space is optimized for operational efficiency.
- Perform routine housekeeping and equipment upkeep activities.
Delivery & Transportation:
- Deliver materials and supplies between multiple company facilities within the Solon, Ohio area.
- Develop and maintain efficient delivery schedules and routes.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable shipping and transportation regulations.
- Handle hazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Obtain and maintain certifications required for hazardous material shipping.
Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with logistics, customer service, vendors, and internal departments to resolve shipping and receiving issues.
- Support overall operational efficiency through effective communication and teamwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
- Prior experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or logistics operations preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred; must obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory management software, and shipping platforms required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods in varying temperature environments.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Ability to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements such as scanning, sorting, packaging, and data entry.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery, warehouse equipment, and delivery vehicles.
- Ability to read labels, shipping documents, and computer screens and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to work extended hours or overtime as needed to support operational demands.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in warehouse, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, laboratory, and office environments.
- Regular exposure to varying temperatures, including hot, cold, and humid conditions.
- Exposure to warehouse noise, moving equipment, chemicals, and industrial materials.
- Frequent interaction with delivery drivers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Position requires travel between multiple company facilities within the Solon, Ohio area.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe shoes, and other required safety equipment.
- Must comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
