Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Terraform-heavy) in United States.
This role sits at the core of modern cloud infrastructure delivery, focusing on building scalable, repeatable, and secure infrastructure through infrastructure-as-code. You will design and maintain Terraform-based systems that standardize provisioning across multiple teams, cloud accounts, and environments. The position plays a critical role in shaping how infrastructure is delivered, governed, and automated across the organization. Working closely with platform, security, and DevOps teams, you will embed best practices directly into reusable modules and CI/CD pipelines. The environment is highly collaborative and engineering-driven, with a strong emphasis on reliability, automation, and cloud-native design. Your work will directly influence developer velocity, operational consistency, and enterprise-grade infrastructure maturity.
- Design and maintain modular, production-grade Terraform code that defines and provisions infrastructure across cloud accounts, environments, and regions with strong emphasis on reusability and standardization.
- Build and evolve a comprehensive library of Terraform modules with well-defined interfaces, versioning discipline, documentation, and embedded security and operational best practices.
- Implement and manage infrastructure CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Terraform Cloud, or Atlantis, including automated plan/apply workflows, drift detection, and policy enforcement.
- Define and enforce policy-as-code controls using tools like OPA, Sentinel, Checkov, or Conftest to ensure secure, compliant, and consistent infrastructure changes.
- Manage Terraform state at scale, including backend configuration, locking strategies, workspace organization, and disaster recovery planning.
- Collaborate across platform, security, and engineering teams to standardize infrastructure patterns for identity, networking, secrets management, and cloud resource governance.
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering roles with strong, hands-on Terraform expertise in production environments.
- Deep experience building and maintaining reusable Terraform modules with versioning strategies and scalable architecture across cloud providers.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation, including gated deployments, automated testing, and policy-as-code integration.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, Go, or Bash for automation and tooling development.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure fundamentals including networking, IAM, security, and multi-account architectures in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Git-based workflows, infrastructure troubleshooting, and large-scale state management strategies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to document systems, mentor teams, and drive adoption of infrastructure standards.
- Competitive salary aligned with experience
- Fully remote work across the United States
- Long-term, stable engagement with multi-year roadmap alignment
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision)
- Paid time off and standard employee benefits
- Opportunity to work on large-scale cloud infrastructure and automation initiatives
- Strong engineering culture focused on platform excellence and continuous improvement
