Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Colorado Springs, Colorado at MedNOW Clinics

MedNOW Clinics is seeking a compassionate and dependable Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide outpatient behavioral-health care across our Colorado clinic network.The PMHNP will evaluate patients, diagnose psychiatric conditions, provide medication management, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with primary-care providers and other members of the care team.This is a full-time position that may be assigned to any MedNOW clinic based on patient and organizational needs. A primary clinic location and travel expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.What You Will DoComplete comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits.Assess patients’ psychiatric, medical, social, medication, and substance-use histories.Diagnose and manage mental-health conditions within your education, certification, experience, privileges, and assigned patient population.Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications within your license, prescriptive authority, approved privileges, and applicable safety requirements.Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, interactions, adherence, and treatment progress.Use appropriate controlled-substance safeguards and review the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program when required.Complete suicide, self-harm, violence, substance-use, and other clinical risk assessments.Develop safety plans and arrange emergency evaluation or a higher level of care when clinically necessary.Order, review, interpret, and follow up on laboratory testing and other diagnostic studies.Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up needs.Coordinate care with primary-care providers, therapists, behavioral-health specialists, pharmacies, hospitals, and community resources.Recognize when a patient’s needs are outside your experience, privileges, or available clinic resources and obtain consultation or arrange appropriate care.Complete accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, diagnoses, orders, and coding.Maintain current medication, allergy, and problem lists.Review assigned messages, refill requests, prior authorizations, results, referrals, and clinical work queues.Support patient access, continuity of care, quality measures, and appropriate follow-up.Participate in quality improvement, peer review, team meetings, training, and continuing professional development.Maintain all required licenses, certifications, credentialing, payer enrollment, and professional records.Work onsite at assigned MedNOW locations and travel between clinics when required.Required QualificationsGraduate degree from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.Current national board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.Current, unrestricted Colorado registered nurse license and Advanced Practice Nurse registration, or documented eligibility to obtain the required credentials before starting.Colorado prescriptive authority appropriate for the position.Active DEA registration or documented eligibility to obtain it before independently prescribing controlled substances.Current NPI and ability to complete MedNOW Clinics and payer credentialing requirements.Current BLS/CPR certification.Strong psychiatric assessment, diagnostic, medication-management, safety-planning, and follow-up skills.Ability to recognize psychiatric emergencies and arrange the appropriate level of care.Understanding of documentation, coding, medical necessity, patient privacy, and professional standards.Ability to work full-time onsite and travel to assigned MedNOW clinic locations.Preferred QualificationsPrevious outpatient psychiatric or behavioral-health experience.Experience providing psychiatric medication management.Experience treating common conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, substance-use concerns, and other behavioral-health conditions.Experience completing suicide-risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis escalation.Experience collaborating with primary-care providers and behavioral-health professionals.Experience with Athenahealth or another electronic health record.Experience with prior authorizations, refill management, payer requirements, and clinical work queues.Experience with outpatient documentation and coding.New graduates with strong psychiatric clinical training may be considered when an appropriate onboarding and clinical-support structure is available.Why Join MedNOW Clinics?Provide behavioral-health services within a collaborative outpatient-care environment.Help improve access to psychiatric services across multiple Colorado communities.Work closely with primary-care providers and other clinical professionals.Practice in an environment that values clinical judgment, patient safety, continuity of care, and appropriate consultation.Receive onboarding and support for MedNOW workflows, documentation, credentialing, and quality programs.Access opportunities for continued learning and professional growth.Eligible employees may receive medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid time off and sick leave; a 401(k) match; voluntary insurance options; employee discounts; and training and professional-growth opportunities.
