Job Summary

“Automated Equipment Maintenance Technician.”

The Electromechanical position will install, align, maintain, and repair a wide variety of machinery and CNC equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electronic malfunctions, repair, rebuild and overhaul assemblies; and can perform complex diagnoses and repairs of all electrical and electronic systems including CNC machines, and PLC controlled equipment. Follows established company directives, policies, military specifications, quality documents and manufacturing instructions. Technicians with experience in troubleshooting, maintaining and adjusting automated production equipment are desired.

Responsibilities

The electromechanical technician will lead and direct other maintenance trades needed for repairs of the equipment, as well as work closely with Engineers, Programmers, Supervisors, production Employees and other Maintenance personnel. Also works closely with factory trained service technicians and service engineers.

Will wire new equipment. Adjust devices and control instruments. Program basic machine functions, axis movements, spindle speeds, tool recovery and MDI functions. Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Test, troubleshoot and replace automated system controls (optical sensors, pressure switches, etc.) to keep automated assembly lines functioning.

Determines if a malfunction, or failure, are in the various electronic controls and accessories or, if it is associated with electrical, hydraulic or a combination of various problems; using an understanding all interfacing equipment and components used by the machine manufacture.

Troubleshoot and isolate equipment malfunctions in various electronic controls and accessories. Interpret diagnostic tapes, and us other methods of trouble shooting, for CNC/NC equipment and computer processing units to isolate a problem down to printed circuit board.

Create new or use established repair procedures to return equipment to serviceable and operating conditions. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.

Repairs electrical equipment, and repairs or replaces defective parts. Will lay out and machine complex parts needed for machine repairs.

May trace out, and replace, if necessary, coolant, hydraulic and or pneumatic hoses using hydraulic and pneumatic hoses, fitting and hose crimping equipment.

• Must be capable of performing all tasks and duties of Electricians #1 and #2; and Repair Machinists #1 and #2; and Electric Maintenance #1 and #2.
• All employees are expected to follow government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

May be required to perform other duties as required by supervision and follows instructions as directed.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and/or Certifications:

Required:

High school diploma or G.E.D. required, two-year degree in Electronics or equivalent experience preferred

Must have extensive experience in automated equipment maintenance

• CNC repair experience required.
• Employees must have basic computer skills, and may be required to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate.
• Requires mental development equivalent to completing four years of technical college or university education in order to understand and perform work of a complex technical nature requiring a comprehensive knowledge of the theory and practices of electrical, electronics, mechanical, chemical, or like engineering field.
• Must have or be eligible to test for master electrician’s license as defined by rules of National Electric Code.

Required:

Knowledge:

• Able to understand ladder logic, be able to display and use ladder logic in trouble shooting machines.
• Must be knowledgeable of binary or digital logic numbering systems used in assigned older equipment.

Skills:

• Understands and repairs interfacing equipment between microprocessor and machine functions.
• Adept with programming and troubleshooting computer systems associated with industrial CNC/NC equipment (executive memory).
• Physical capacity requirements for this position require the incumbent to be able to lift 35 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. on occasion.
• Proven awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Demonstrated ability to follow safety practices and recognize hazards

• Adept with programming and troubleshooting computer systems associated with industrial CNC/NC equipment (executive memory).

Pay Range (USD)

$44.19 per hour
