Description:

The Teaching Assistant works directly with students with ASD and developmental disabilities providing academic, social, and behavioral support and uses methods of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to increase skill level and decrease challenging behaviors of students with ASD and developmental disabilities. The Teaching Assistant assists with development, implementation, and evaluation of behavior support plans, records data on academic, social, and behavioral goals, completes required documentation, and participates in Agency activities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Role responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

· Provide direct instruction on IEP goals and objectives using ABA methodology, based on the level of need of the student.

· Collect and maintain data on academic, social, and behavioral goals.

· Assist with transitions of students.

· Follow behavioral protocol and use methods of ABA to decrease challenging behaviors of students (if applicable).

· Provide 1:1 support to a student when needed.

· Oversee the safety and well-being of the students.

· Maintain and regularly compile data and documentation to be reviewed by supervisor as required.

· Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings and committees.

· Contribute to a positive work environment through collaborative team work and positive communication in alignment with Kelberman’s culture, values and mission.

· Demonstrate excellent work attendance by being punctual and reliable for all scheduled shifts and meetings.

· Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.

· Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements and HIPAA laws.

· Maintain documentation as required.

· Respond to medical emergencies and log any/all incidents that may occur during working hours.

· Participate in evacuation drills.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Minimum of Bachelor’s degree. Field of psychology or related field preferred. Or Associate degree with an RBT certificate.

· Up to 1 year of experience preferred.

· Knowledge of basic computer skills.

· This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OCFS (Office of Child and Family Services).
