Your Role as a Student Success Advisor - First Term

As a Student Success Advisor (SSA) - First Term at Post University, you are not just fulfilling a job; you are a crucial part of a student’s journey from their first class to graduation. You are a mentor, a motivator, and a strategic partner in their academic success. In this role, you will proactively build strong, trusting relationships with students, guiding them through challenges, connecting them with Post University support services, and helping them reach their academic goals. You are not only an advocate for student success but also an ambassador of the Post University brand.

Pay: $45,000/annually, $21.64/hour

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday

  • Dedication to exceptional service - serve as a student’s primary point of contact from their first course through graduation, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to succeed.
  • Proactively develop relationships that welcome students into our learning community, foster a sense of belonging, and create a seamless student experience.
  • Dedication to a noble calling – committed to providing academic guidance, degree planning support, and personalized coaching to help students overcome challenges and stay on track.
  • Maintain frequent and meaningful communication with students through phone calls, emails, and University systems to keep them engaged and informed.
  • Act as a strong advocate for student needs across University departments, removing barriers to success and facilitating a supportive academic experience.
  • Commitment to excellence - analyze student progress using University systems and data insights, proactively identifying at-risk students and implementing strategies to support retention.
  • Introduce students to University tools, including Web Registration and Blackboard, ensuring they are equipped to navigate their academic journey.
  • Educate students on University policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance their learning experience.
  • Lead through innovation - actively participate in initiatives to improve the student experience, collaborating with colleagues to refine processes and enhance services.
  • Commitment to Integrity - Exhibit high ethical standards, professionalism, and a commitment to Post University’s mission.
  • Accountable to the Post Community - partner cross-functionally with Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, and Academic Affairs teams to foster a comprehensive, student-centered experience, providing non-traditional students with the support, guidance, and resources they need to transform their lives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Genuinely Student-centric…institutional traditionalists need not apply! Our students are not an inconvenience…they are the reason we exist!
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates readiness for this role).
  • Secure in knowing Post is a non-hierarchical, “messy” environment…it is about mission…it’s about the team…it’s not about you!
  • Exceptional communication skills, including a warm and engaging phone presence as a Post representative
  • Highest level of integrity and self-drive
  • Heros and victims need not apply! It is only about the team and mission.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Blackboard, CRM tools, and other relevant database software.
  • Flexibility to work weekend hours as needed.
  • Receptive to developmental feedback and responds appropriately.

Remote Work Requirements

  • This position offers the option to work remotely. Candidates must connect their equipment directly to their home router (Post U provides a 50-foot Ethernet cable; no wireless connections). Minimum internet requirements include 25 Mb download speed, 15 Mb upload speed, and a latency score below 40 for reliable audio quality. Test your speed at www.speedtest.net (select Boston, MA–Comcast).
  • Candidates are responsible for ensuring their internet meets these standards before the start date. A dedicated, quiet home workspace free from distractions is also required.
