Job Description

The Food & Beverage Porter (full-time) plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of dining and kitchen areas within the accommodation and food services industry. This position ensures that all food service areas are promptly cleaned and restocked to support smooth and efficient operations. The porter collaborates closely with kitchen staff, servers, and management to uphold high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction. By managing waste disposal and maintaining equipment cleanliness, the porter contributes to a safe and welcoming environment for both guests and staff. Ultimately, this role supports the overall guest experience by enabling seamless food and beverage service through diligent behind-the-scenes work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Clean tables, counters, and dining areas promptly after guests have finished their meals.
  • Wash, dry, and store dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment efficiently.
  • Restock supplies such as napkins, condiments, and utensils to ensure readiness for service.
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist kitchen and service staff with basic food preparation and setup as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation and storage areas.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management immediately.
  • Support compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, standing for extended periods, and repetitive motions.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a food service or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations specific to food and beverage operations.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Customer service experience to assist in guest interactions when necessary.
