Maintenance Technician - Powder Coating Manufacturing in New Baltimore, Michigan at ABPC Company LLC
Job Description
Keep our line running and see the difference your work makes every day.
Anchor Bay Powder Coat is a small, hands-on powder coating shop in Michigan. We're looking for a Maintenance Technician who likes fixing things, takes pride in keeping equipment running, and wants to be the go-to person on the floor. You won't be one of fifty techs in a big plant. Here, you'll own the maintenance work, and what you do directly keeps parts moving out the door.
If you have a year or two of maintenance experience (or solid trade school training) and want to build your skills on curing ovens, spray booths, conveyors and pretreatment systems, we'd like to talk to you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Keep our powder coating line running: troubleshoot and repair curing ovens, spray booths, conveyors, pretreatment/wash systems and powder recovery equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on motors, bearings, gearboxes, air compressors, pneumatic tools, fans, ventilation and dust collection
- Handle basic electrical troubleshooting (motors, controls, burners, sensors) and light HVAC
- Maintain and make minor repairs to forklifts and shop equipment
- Take care of the building: light plumbing, carpentry, painting, lighting and general upkeep
- Respond quickly when equipment goes down and prioritize work to minimize downtime
- Log work orders and PMs in our ERP system and keep parts and supplies organized
- Spot recurring problems and suggest improvements that make the shop run better
- Follow lockout/tagout and all safety procedures
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial or facilities setting, or completion of a technical/trade program (industrial maintenance, electrical, HVAC, mechatronics, etc.)
- Solid mechanical aptitude and a logical approach to troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of basic electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems
- Comfortable reading equipment manuals, simple schematics and diagrams
- A self-starter who can work independently and manage your own priorities
- Dependable, with a good attitude and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed
NICE TO HAVE (WE'LL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON)
- Experience with powder coating, paint/finishing lines, industrial ovens or conveyors
- Exposure to gas burners, PLCs or VFDs
- Forklift experience
- Basic welding or fabrication skills
- Your own basic hand tools
WHY YOU'LL LIKE WORKING HERE
- Stable, full-time position with overtime opportunities
- A small team where your work gets noticed, not lost in a big plant
- Variety: no two days are the same
- Hands-on training on powder coating equipment and room to grow your skills
- A direct line to leadership, so your ideas for improvement actually get heard
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Production shop environment with noise, dust, heat near ovens and seasonal temperature changes
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching and climbing ladders
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Use of required PPE and safe operation of hand and power tools
