Central Sterile Technician | $22 - $28/hr | 4x10s or 3x12s | Full-Time Benefits | Portsmouth, NH

We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Central Sterile Technician (Pack Room Attendant) to join our veterinary hospital team.

At Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, every role plays a critical part in delivering exceptional patient care. The Pack Room Attendant is essential in ensuring our medical teams have the clean, sterile equipment and organized supplies needed to provide high-quality medicine to our patients each and every day.

Compensation:

  • $22 - $28 based on knowledge & experience
Schedule:
  • Four 10-hour shifts or three 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities:
As a Central Sterile Technician you will play a key role in supporting all hospital departments by maintaining cleanliness, organization, sterility, and surgical readiness throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Collaborate closely with department supervisors to ensure adequate sterile supplies and instrumentation are available to support daily caseload demands
  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, wrap, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments, packs, and medical equipment to appropriate hospital areas
  • Prepare, disinfect, break down, and set up surgical suites before and after procedures
  • Operate and monitor steam and ETO sterilizers in accordance with hospital protocols and safety standards
  • Perform routine testing of autoclaves and accurately document and report results
  • Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot surgical instruments and sterilization equipment to ensure proper function and safety
  • Monitor inventory levels and expiration dates of sterile instruments, supplies, and surgical materials
  • Maintain proper disinfection and processing of linens utilized within the operating room
  • Complete scheduled deep cleaning and detailed sanitation tasks within operating rooms, equipment areas, and the pack room to uphold surgical cleanliness standards
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and back stock of supplies throughout the hospital
  • Follow all sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and hospital safety protocols with exceptional attention to detail
  • Support hospital-wide cleaning, stocking, and organizational initiatives during downtime
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support hospital operations and patient care
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Dependability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn in an evolving hospital environment
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the duration of a shift
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile processing, and sterilization procedures is preferred
  • CRCST and/or CBSPD certification and/or prior experience within a veterinary specialty surgical service is preferred, but not required
