Job Description
Position Summary:
The Anesthesia Technician assesses the needs of the anesthesia care provider while preparing the surgical patient for anesthesia. He/she routinely cares for and prepares anesthesia supplies and monitoring equipment.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department
Training and Experience:
1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required within ninety (90) days of hire.
2. Texas Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) encouraged
4. Certified Anesthesia Tech encouraged
5. Successful completion of hospital orientation within three (3) months of hire required
6. Successful completion of the Customer Service course within three (3) months of hire required
7. Complete the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer to department:
· Connecting patients to monitors
· Preparing IV set-up
· Preparing invasive monitoring line set-up
· Anesthesia machine set-up
· Non-invasive line monitoring room set-up
· Invasive line monitoring room set-up
· Continuous cardiac output monitoring set-up
· Assisting in placement of invasive lines
Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Ability to perform under stress.
May encounter exposure to infectious disease.
Varied work hours and shifts.
Much walking and lifting.
