Job Description

Learning Tree Assistant Director

Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, the Assistant Child Care Director will supervise all office procedures, staffing, acuity, scheduling, curriculum and maintaining of appropriate licensure and accreditation. The Assistant Director will promote program goals and policies for the child care department. The Assistant Director will have a central role in effecting the quality programming at the center and is responsible for the smooth operation of daily processes at the site.

Minimum Education:

Baccalaureate Degree with 24 credits in ECE, CD, EIED or EC Spec ED and 9 Credits in administration, leadership, or management or has an approved alternative pathway status through NAEYC. Obtain or be working on receiving Northern Lights Step Three Director Credential and at least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Four A or B.

Minimum Work Experience:

Prior experience administering a childcare program is preferred and 4 years of early childcare and education experience.

Required Licenses/ Certifications:

Licensure in Early Childhood Education preferred;

Infant Child CPR and Pediatric First Aid certifications required

Establishes systems that support child development and youth development.

Ensures that children and families have the opportunities they need to be successful

Implement and sustain a culturally sensitive, non-discriminatory and inclusive learning environment based on principles of child and youth development and professional standards

Ensures that all policies, procedures and protocols are designed to promote sound development in all areas and are effectively implemented

Effectively manages the program and staff, including the establishment of systems for smooth program functioning

Ensure all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements are met, including staff training, determination of child eligibility, meal patterns and service, recordkeeping, reporting. Complete other administrative, operational, and financial tasks as required and outlined in policy and CACFP management plan.

Perform other duties as assigned.
