PeopleSoft PeopleTools Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a PeopleSoft PeopleTools Engineer in United States.

This role focuses on the technical backbone of large-scale PeopleSoft environments, ensuring enterprise systems remain stable, secure, and highly performant across development and production landscapes.
You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, and ongoing administration of complex PeopleSoft ecosystems supporting critical business operations.
The position requires deep expertise in PeopleTools, infrastructure components, and database connectivity, combined with strong operational discipline.
You will also contribute to automation initiatives, system optimization, and modernization efforts using DevOps-oriented practices.
A key part of the role involves supporting upgrades, managing integrations, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional technical and business teams to translate requirements into reliable, production-ready solutions.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thrives in complex enterprise environments and values system stability and scalability.

Accountabilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain PeopleSoft environments across development, test, training, and production systems, ensuring reliability and consistency across all stages.
  • Lead PeopleTools upgrades, PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) cycles, patching activities, and system modernization initiatives.
  • Manage core PeopleSoft infrastructure components including application servers, process schedulers, web servers (WebLogic), and Integration Broker.
  • Administer and support search infrastructure such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Execute system refreshes, clones, and environment copies while maintaining strong documentation and operational discipline.
  • Configure and maintain system security across application, web, and infrastructure layers in alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Implement and support Oracle database connectivity and collaborate with DBA teams on performance tuning and optimization.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools using shell, Python, or Ansible to reduce operational overhead and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and lead troubleshooting and incident resolution in production environments.
  • Provide post-go-live and hypercare support while ensuring long-term stability through root cause analysis and durable fixes.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with PeopleSoft PeopleTools administration and enterprise system management.
  • Strong expertise in PeopleTools upgrades and PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) processes.
  • Experience with WebLogic, Tuxedo, application servers, and process scheduler administration.
  • Hands-on experience managing Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in PeopleSoft environments.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database administration and performance tuning.
  • Strong Linux/Unix skills with experience in shell scripting and system automation.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Cloud Manager or equivalent automation/orchestration tools.
  • Experience implementing HA/DR strategies for enterprise applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OCI is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible), and Selective Adoption is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to work in complex, production-critical environments with a focus on stability and reliability.
