The Center for Housing Justice & Policy (CHJP) is a multidisciplinary program dedicated to addressing the complex housing crisis through research, education, advocacy and enforcement. CHJP’s vision is a future with equal access to safe and affordable housing for all. CHJP seeks a mission-driven Digital Fair Housing Testing & Research Coordinator to support a statewide initiative examining barriers faced by Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) users and other protected classes in rental markets.

This role blends structured digital audit testing, methodology development, and research analysis, offering a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both investigative work and synthesizing findings to advance housing justice.

CHJP is implementing a centralized testing model, meaning the Coordinator will directly conduct all tests using standardized scripts and protocols to ensure consistency, rigor, and high-quality data collection.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Digital Evidence Collection

• Conduct structured digital audit tests using standardized scripts and protocols.

• Document and archive digital interactions, access barriers, and communication patterns encountered during testing.

• Maintain organized logs and evidence files across multiple testing waves.

Methodology Development

• Assist in developing and refining testing scripts, protocols, and digital documentation procedures.

• Ensure consistency and quality across all testing activities.

Data Management & Research Analysis

• Maintain structured datasets and support analysis of trends and patterns identified through testing.

• Contribute to the statewide findings report summarizing aggregated, nonidentifiable results.

• Participate in internal discussions to interpret findings and shape recommendations.

Education, Outreach & Technical Assistance

• Support development of plain language renter tools (scripts, checklists) and provider guidance materials.

• Assist with outreach sessions and trainings for PHAs, municipalities, nonprofits, and tenant groups.

• Ensure materials are accessible, including translated versions and screen-reader–compatible formats.

Policy Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

• Participate in strategic meetings with partners to support policy review and recommendations.

• Assist in convening a multi-stakeholder working group to discuss findings and potential practice improvements.

• Contribute to and draft brief policy summaries and coordinate advocacy efforts.

Project Implementation & Reporting

• Support IRB processes, partner briefings, and documentation of project progress.

• Maintain organized project records and assist with close-out materials and lessons-learned synthesis.

Qualifications

Required

• Strong organizational and documentation, and written communication skills.

• Comfort navigating digital platforms and structured research protocols.

• Ability to work independently within a defined methodology.

• Commitment to racial equity, disability justice, and housing access.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social sciences, public policy, law, housing, urban studies, data analysis, or a related discipline), or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience with audit testing, investigations, or structured data collection.

• Familiarity with voucher programs or rental market processes.

• Experience producing accessible materials or supporting LEP households.
