Job Description
This position will assist students visiting the Writing Lab by answering questions and providing tutoring services.
- Tutoring Sessions: Conduct individual and small-group sessions in person or via online platforms to assist with structure, clarity, grammar, and mechanics.
- Writing Process Support: Help students develop thesis statements, organize paragraphs, and improve overall writing skills.
- Promote Independence: Teach proofreading and revision strategies so students learn to identify and correct errors in their own work.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate session notes, track student attendance, and log hours using institutional software.
MANDATORY: Bachelor’s degree in English. Prior teaching and/or tutoring experience. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
PREFERRED: Master’s degree in English.This is a part-time (8-10 hrs per week), hourly (non-exempt) position and will be scheduled to work in the morning and/or afternoon, depending upon needs within the Writing Lab.
